I loved the characters in this story. Avery learns to begin to take things in a quiet way. She was raised with a silver spoon but was not really happy. Here in the land of the Amish Avery learns to relax and learn to trust in God. Gideon learns to live again. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Love Heals All WoundsAugust 2, 2017tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This was very different from most Amish books I've read. Avery was a daughter to a very rich man. Gideon was a wounded soul hiding from life after losing his wife and son. They meet when Avery is caught in a snow storm and crashes her car. Gideon finds her, unconscious, and rescues her. Their relationship develops over time with Avery staying at Gideon's house and learning all about Amish life. I was very impressed with her growth and adaptation of the Amish ways. She came to realize over time that she needed God and how the simpler life was much more meaningful than the rich girl life she had been leading. Gideon was brought out of his guilt and grief partly because of what Avery brought into his life. Over time though, Gideon realizes her former life is where she will eventually go back to and he needs to protect his already wounded heart. Will they go their separate ways and draw on what they have learned from each other? After all Amish going English is so much easier than English converting to Amish. This novel touched me in many ways. Had me contemplating my own life and how I could slow down and make changes to incorporate a simpler life for me and my family. It will stay with me for a very long time!
Even though the author had sent me a paperback copy, I had previously purchased an ebook copy. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is strictly my own.

Gideon is barely making it through the day since his wife and son were killed during a storm. He has no interest in life or doing more than going through the motions until the night of a late season snow storm. A beautiful, young socialite crashes her little sports car very near Gideon's farm. She is injured and there is no one around to help. Being true to his Amish faith and ethics, Gideon brings the woman into his house to assess her injuries and allow her to get warm.
Thus, a love story for the ages is set in motion. Avery Hamilton is tired of her shallow existence that revolves around money and finds living in the Amish community a wonderful respite. Gideon, much against his will, finds himself falling in love with her.
A heart wrenching and heartwarming story that you won't want to miss. Ms. Lillard's characters are created to find their way into your soul and stay nestled there long after you finish "Saving Gideon".
