Publisher's Description

It's possible to be a new creation in Christ . . . yet still struggle with strongholds.

With compassion, personal experience and raw honesty, Pastor Bobby Davis leads readers through seven common struggles, or strongholds, holding Christians back. He demonstrates how to experience victory and freedom instead of just hearing about it in church.

Bobby offers real answers to real problems that keep believers enslaved every day, uncovering hidden strongholds--including unforgiveness, insecurity, addiction and fear--and offering a way out.

If you're tired of feeling defeated, this book is for you.

There's hope. Christianity isn't just about future freedom in heaven; it's about entering your promised land and embracing the power of God now.

You can accept this freedom, overcome your strongholds and fulfill God's perfect plan for your life.

    SUMMARY:

Even though forgiven, many people still carry and struggle with the burdens of strongholds in their lives. With brutal honesty, self stories, heavy examples and a multitude of encouragement, Pastor Bobby Davis in his new book, Saved But Still Enslaved, provides answers and steps to overcoming those strongholds which can hold people captive. Even though the action has passed, strongholds such as shame, inferiority, addiction, fear, unforgiveness, hopelessness, religion and poverty can still shape lives, both in the present and future.

    A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:

Such a powerful book in the message it contains as well as the way in which it was written. Though not long in length, each chapter made me pause and realize these strongholds could affect many people, including me. I appreciated the straight forward approach to the book; it is definitely not a light read. Great for teen ministry, counseling, and self reading, Saved But Still Enslaved, has the capability of changing lives to truly live for God as intended, providing different ways to view road blocks in life. This book proved to be enlightening and well worth my time to read it; I will probably return to it again.

From time to time a book will appear that almost immediately becomes a classic reference in counseling work. This is one of those most useful, definitive works. It is a tour de force compilation of the most common spiritual problems that recur in our clients' lives. Written from the perspective of a pastoral counselor, this book probes the causes for eight maladies and provides specific Scriptural resources to overcome each. Pastor Davis draws illustrations from his own counseling work and, in several instances , from his own personal faith journey. The narrative builds forcefully from one chapter to the next , then climaxes with three keys to getting free and staying free. This is the sort of book that I can recommend to my own counseling clients with confidence that they will find help to clarify their own issues and to begin the process of healing. - Robert M. Ridley, LPC/MHSP , Cookeville, Tennessee

I received this book from Chosen publishers to review. Bobby Davis' purpose in writing this book is to help followers of Christ know how to break free from the things that are "yokes of bondage" in your life and are hold you back from the abundant life God offers you.

Written from his life experience, he offers the Christian hope and guidance. Mingled with relevant Scripture. Basically, it is comprised of his testimony, how God restores and delivers today, helping us to walk in the freedom Christ offers. Targets eight areas of possible entrapments by our enemy the Devil. Most importantly, he instructs us how to walk in freedom after we are delivered.

He inserts the Bible text references right in the paragraphs, therefore no footnotes or index at the end of chapters or at back of the book. There are one or two theological issues I disagree with about out salvation, which I believe is a terminology issue. Besides that, it is a smooth flowing, well written story. I would recommend this book.

It's a funny thing, you know, to come face to face with all your failings. When I was younger I thought I was as ugly as a goat but was inwardly as perfect as a human could get. I knew Jesus had to die for me but maybe only a bit. As I grow older, I see that, in fact, I'm kind of cute on the outside but my heart is gross.

When I started reading "Saved but Still Enslaved" by Bobby Davis, I thought, well, I am going to review this for others but... I don't have any strongholds. HA! With each page I read save a few, it was like Mr. Davis was describing me! Yikes. You can't treat a problem you don't realize or recognize it there and this book put a spotlight on a few areas of my life that haven't seen the light of day in a long time - if ever.

Truthfully, I have read better books - books that inspired me to change but I obviously needed to read it. I'm going to assume I'm not so special as to be the only one sooo, yeah, I'd recommend it.

BTW, I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
