Publisher's Description

Hope Harbor police chief Lexie Graham has plenty on her plate raising her son alone and dealing with a sudden rash of petty theft and vandalism in her coastal Oregon hometown. As a result, she has zero time for extracurricular activities--including romance. Ex-con Adam Stone isn't looking for love either--but how ironic is it that the first woman to catch his eye is a police chief? Yet wishing for things that can never be is foolish.

Nevertheless, when Lexie enlists Adam's help to keep a young man from falling into a life of crime, sparks begin to fly. And as they work together, it soon becomes apparent that God may have a different--and better--future planned for them than either could imagine.

Lauded by Library Journal as "a master at character development," Irene Hannon welcomes readers back to this charming Oregon seaside village where hearts heal--and love blooms.

Sandpiper Cove is the third book in the Hope Harbor series and it does not disappoint. Irene Hannon takes us back to the wonderful little town where Charley is still offering great wisdom and Reverend Baker and Father Murphy continue their lighthearted bantering.

Lexie Graham is the town's police chief. She has earned her place and has a great reputation for doing what is right. When the ex-con living outside of town experiences vandalism, she gives him the benefit of the doubt, especially after meeting Clyde.

Adam Stone expects to be judged and pretty much figures he has earned it. But Hope Harbor offers a lot of surprises and Lexie Graham is one of the best.

The budding romance and suspense of Brian's struggle with the school bully makes Sandpiper Cove a page turner.

I am a fan of Irene Hannon already so it is not hard to rave about this book. But there is no embellishing when I say I think it is the best of the Hope Harbor series.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the entire Hope Harbor Series by Irene Hannon. Sandpiper Cove was no different.

Praise for Sandpiper Cove: Lauded by Library Journal as "a master at character development," Irene Hannon welcomes readers back to this charming Oregon seaside village where hearts heal--and love blooms.

The setting was one thing that I've enjoyed with each of the Hope Harbor novels, I get a feel of this small Oregon seaside village. There are times when I can smell the salty ocean air. There is a harbor seal named Casper who turns up in each book, but always at an inopportune time. A character named Charley sells taco's from a taco truck located on the water at a public park that has a serene setting. Charley knows all, he is the voice of reason for many of the characters.

Sandpiper Cove has well-developed characters. Lexie, the heroine, is a cop. Adam, the hero, is an ex-con. Nothing like two opposites attracting! The romance unfolds slowly and on the page. A page-turning read that keeps you in the moment. Grab your copy today!

One of the best parts of this book was in the author's note at the end when she states there will be another book in her Hope Harbor series. Reading this and the other books in the series is like glimpsing a small snapshot of what true Christianity is about. On occasion as Reverend Baker and Father Murphy get together, the reader may start to question that statement, but these two men hold each other in high regard and simply love hassling each other about their differences as the pastor of Grace Christian and the priest at St. Francis. I have mentioned Charley's fish tacos in the reviews of the previous books in this series, but I have failed to mention his knowledge of what is happening in Hope Harbor and his obvious wisdom. Somehow Charley seems to have insights into the lives of his customers that even they do not realize and often has a word for them that either helps deal with situations from the past or prepares them for what is about to happen. In this story, the main characters are Lexie Graham, the chief of police in Hope Harbor, and Adam Stone, who is called Stone by almost everyone who knows him. He is an ex-convict who was led to become a believer by the pastor of the local church who also served as chaplain in the prison. Upon his release, Stone came to Hope Harbor because Reverend Baker assured him he would be welcome and helped Stone find a job and a place to live. One of my favorite lines in the book was spoken by Stone when he and Lexie were talking about the furniture he built as a hobby. He was explaining to her his reason for making furniture: "Creating beauty out of discards, turning rejects and scraps into something functional..."(page 114). That line so beautifully sums up a theme that weaves its way through the entire story, beginning with an ex-con and the dog he rescued after finding it beside the highway after a car had hit it and continuing with a teenage boy who got in with the wrong crowd. Oh yeah, not everything is roses, but helping lift up others is clearly communicated. I believe you will love the story.

This review was written for Sandpiper Cove: A Hope Harbor Novel - eBook.
Sandpiper Cove by Irene Hannon starts you off immediately in a house break in and a torturing of a dog but not a torture torture. Whoever it was it was cruel to the dog when they destroyed the work area and painted bad things into the wood in the shed. Adam, is the care taker, he found and now owns the shy disfigured dog. Adam is an ex-con but a new CREATION - guess which one trumps the other???? that's right CHRIST:) The dog, like Adam does not trust anyone until the day he met the Sherriff Lexie - they both felt a little trust that day -- when she did an investigation into the woodworking and all the graphite and the breaking and entering. Adam was very impressed at how knowledgeable she was. Lexie treated him with love, trust, and respect - friendly right from the start and he had her on his heart from the start and she had him on her heart from the same. How do you go from graphitti to having someone stay on their mind and heart? How do you go from someone being on your mind to asking an ex-con to help this boy stop doing things that could lead to things that could lead to a life like his - a life of crime - GOD has plans and Adam is listening - thank GOD he is. Is this enough to get Lexie's attention? Would Lexie ever truly care for an ex-con? Could she ever like him as he cares for her? I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
