Publisher's Description

Sam Sanderson is an independent, resourceful, high-tech cheerleader. She dreams of becoming an award-winning journalist like her mother, so she’s always looking for articles to publish in her middle-school paper (where she secretly hopes to become chief editor). With a police officer for a father, Sam is in no short supply of writing material.

In the fourth book of the Faithgirlz Samantha Sanderson series, Sam’s friend Tam Lee is missing. As the days pass, all clues seem to point to something sinister in Sam’s opinion. Sam must decide whether to do what everyone wants her to and let law enforcement continue to work as though Tam is a run-away. Or should Sam follow her heart and keep poking around looking for more clues?

The Samantha Sanderson series is about an ordinary girl with extraordinary dreams. Each book touches on a crime straight from headlines, from bomb threats to bullying, while following Samantha and her friends as they navigate middle-school and questions of faith.

I really enjoyed this book! I'll tell you a little about the book: Samantha Sanderson, who also goes by Sam, loves to sleuth and search for clues and help solve mysteries. Her parents have pretty cool jobs. Her dad is a detective, and her mom is a journalist. One day, her friend, Tam Lee, mysteriously goes missing. His mother swears she dropped Tam off at school the morning he went missing. Immediately they involved the police, and soon everyone was helping to search for Tam Lee. The authorities think that Tam is just another teen runaway, but Sam knows her friend better than that. With help from her closest friend, Makayla, Sam begins to uncover clues about Tam's disappearance that even the police don't find. I won't spoil the whole book by telling you whether or not Tam gets found. That's for you to find out when you read this awesome book. (I can tell you it does turn out good in some ways.) I really suggest picking up a copy for yourself and reading it for yourself.

(I received this book in exchange for a review. I wasn't required to leave a positive review, but we did enjoy the book!)

As a mother of 4 avid readers, and 3 girls, I am always on the look out for books that are interesting for them and that I'm comfortable with.

Samantha is determined to be a journalist, just like her award winning mother. She's willing to do what it takes to get the story and hopes to one day be the editor of the middle school she works on.

When her friend, Tam, goes missing - Sam must help find him. All the clues make Tam out to be another teenage runaway, but Sam knows her friend. Running away is uncharacteristic of him, so she uses her resources and starts investigating on her own. Sam enlists the help of her tech savvy best friend and they are able to uncover tidbits of information.

I wasn't sure about the storyline at first, but once I began reading further, I had to find out what had happened to Tam myself. There were enough plot twist to make the storyline believable and engaging.

Without a Trace is a book I'll give to my girls to read!

    Pre Teens- Three Stars

    New Teens- Five Stars

Older High School Teens- Four Stars (and a half)

My personal Rating- Four Stars (and a half)

    {Add 1-2 stars for girls in Public & Private School.}

Okay, that was great! These Samantha Sanderson books keep getting better and better!

A note to moms possibly concern about the abduction part of the plot--*(Big Spoiler* While there are many mentions of it, there isnt actually an abduction, its an experiment. So the child who goes missing is okay. ;) *End of Big Spoiler*).

Honestly, this was border-line phenomenal and border-line 5-star rating to me. While set in the Public School system & all about it, this homeschooler still found the plot really fascinating.

Just an interesting thing I noticed: Sam & Makayla are both 12, yet have Facebook accounts. While Facebook requires you to be age 13, there are ways around it. I just found it interesting that Sams police-office father allowed her to have an account. Semi-odd in my opinion. ;)

I was excited to see Sams mom more in this one, as she was awesome!

I do have to admit, when I opened this book, I was highly disappointed that the cover was changed from the normal matte-like cover (like the previous three books) to a high glossy. Silly, I know, to mention it, but it bugs me a bit. The actual cover is still cute, with Sams adorable outfit and the purple theme. The spines of all four of the books lined up look so nice, though!

Soooo, Im ready for a fifth Samantha Sanderson book. And a sixth. And a. ;)

*I received this book for free from the Publisher (Zondervan) for this honest review.
