Micah4 Stars Out Of 5Good as a Springboard for StudyMarch 12, 2016MicahQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4The Rose pamphlet on Ruth could really be printed as a booklet because of its format and text-density. That isn't a criticism, but just a precursor as to what kind of pamphlet one is buying. Ruth has four chapters in Scripture that can be used as reference points for the different episodes in the record. One could almost classify the book as ancient drama because of its great setting and theme. As to the pamphlet, it also uses the different scenes in the book to divide the lessons and explanations we need from such a text. For those seeking quick overview information, this would be a good pamphlet, and for a deeper dig, Sam Nadler's meditations in The Book of Ruth: Hope Revealed in the Redeemer's Grace, which could very appropriately accompany your purchase of the pamphlet, would be a good add on to your library. So then, this pamphlet will be a very good catalyst for your own personal study of Ruth, as well as a springboard to trigger the vital thoughts which the book has. Check it out, and then check out!
Ann5 Stars Out Of 5New info on a favorite toryFebruary 26, 2015AnnQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Beyond the love story between Ruth and Boaz, the hesed of God is demonstrated. This Hebrew word is used repeatedly in this pamphlet to represent Gods loving kindness to his people. Naomi knows the law of her God requires fellow Israelites to protect and care for widows, orphans, and foreigners. Ruth, a Moabite, is taking quite a risk to travel with her mother-in-law to Bethlehem. Ruth gleans in Boaz's field, a man of standing and worthy character. He provides not only wheat for Ruth and Naomi to eat, but protection as well. As a widow and a foreigner Ruth is below the social status of Boazs servants, yet he shows her favor by giving her 10 times the amount of wheat as others and invites her to eat at his table. At the urging of Naomi, Ruth approaches Boaz as he sleeps and asks for a corner of his garment. A risky move but one evidently sanctioned by God as it leads to marriage for Ruth and Boaz. Inserts of contrasting text highlight information on Jewish traditions, vocabulary, and social customs concerning the Levirate Marriage and Guardian Redeemer. Cross referencing scripture shows Gods providential care in the lineage of the Messiah. The PDF was given to me by Rose Publishing for my unbiased review.

Steve LucasAtenas, Costa RicaAge: 35-44Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Great summaryFebruary 13, 2014Steve LucasAtenas, Costa RicaAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4"Ruth: The Triumph of Loyalty and Love" (Rose Publishing, 2013) provides a great summary of the familiar story, along with the necessary insight into the culture and customs of the day, and the meanings of the Hebrew names that make the story even more profound.
Though the pamphlet lacks the maps and charts we've come to expect from Rose Publishing, the four scene explanation of Ruth (corresponding to the chapters) makes up for it. The well written summary provides the essential data along with helpful commentary to make it the perfect introduction or teaching aid for the Book of Ruth.
I'm happy to recommend it as a tool for ministry and Bible study.
