The Houthi rebels in Yemen had captured an American journalist and a member of the Saudi royal family. Their executions are scheduled for Easter Sunday. The president ordered the best America had to offer, a SEAL team to break them out, while she watched on live video stream from their leader's helmet camera. The mission failed horribly and now the president is under scrutiny for her involvement and the potential for political gain. Attorney Paige Chambers assembles a case which tests one of our nations motto's "Equal justice under law", when the defendant is one of the most powerful politicians.

For the members of SEAL Team Six, it was a rare mission ordered by the president, monitored in real time from the Situation Room. The Houthi rebels in Yemen had captured an American journalist and a member of the Saudi royal family. Their executions were scheduled for Easter Sunday. The SEAL team would break them out.
But when the mission results in spectacular failure, the finger-pointing goes all the way to the top.
Did the president play political games with the lives of U.S. service members?
Paige Chambers, a determined young lawyer, has a very personal reason for wanting to know the answer. The case she files will polarize the nation and test the resiliency of the Constitution. The stakes are huge, the alliances shaky, and she will be left to wonder if the saying on the Supreme Court building still holds true.
Equal justice under law.
It makes a nice motto. But will it work when one of the most powerful people on the planet is also a defendant?
CherylB19875 Stars Out Of 5ExcellentNovember 16, 2017CherylB1987Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Rule of Law by Randy Singer is an excellent read. A story that will grab hold of you at the very beginning and not let go until the end. This was such a powerful read that I was kept on an emotion roller coaster ride all the way through the book. This book would make a great gift. I received a complementary copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion. 4.5 stars!
CafinatedReads20095 Stars Out Of 5Fantastic Legal Thriller!October 15, 2017CafinatedReads2009Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Randy Singer's RULE OF LAW is an awesome and intriguing read. As someone who loves to watch, and read, legal thrillers, this book is one of the best I have read in a long time. It played out like I was watching an intense, edge of my seat movie or TV Show. Randy Singer did not leave me wanting in this book. From the start, I was intrigued by the characters and their development, along with the way Singer makes the reader feel as if they are in the center of the action. This is definitely a high rated 5 stars for this reader! It is going on my keeper list and will be recommended to all who love an intense, fast paced, heart pounding legal read. Hats off to the talented Singer on a job well done.

EAHendryxSanta Clarita, CaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Riveitng and RelevantOctober 10, 2017EAHendryxSanta Clarita, CaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Riveting and relevant, Rule of Law asks questions we need the answers to today in an engaging, fictional way.
This book was good, but it was also hard to read at times. I have long enjoyed fiction that incorporates a military thread or characters and this did just that in such a poignant way (see slight spoiler at bottom of post if you are sensitive to this). I'll admit to having shed many tears as I read this.
Despite the ensuing tears, I really enjoyed Randy's plot, his characters, and his no-nonsense writing voice. It's written in a straightforward way that invites you into the action without too much of the characters emotions clouding the issues. The style is very clean-cut but yet it still digs deep and pulls out reader feelings and creates sympathies for the characters.
I really liked Paige Chambers as a character. She is good at what she does but not an expert. She was vulnerable but not predictable. She was real without being overly emotional. Are you seeing a theme here? More than liking Paige though, I liked how she grew as a character. I won't say much here for fear of saying too much, but I can almost guarantee that you'll be rooting for her as you read through this.
As for the plot, it is a little complicated. There are a lot of moving pieces and it's written in a way that doesn't give you all of the answers until the end - something I enjoy. I also feel like it is very relevant. We may not be going through this with our government today, but it feels very feasible for the future. What would happen if...? How will the courts react when...? It's questions like that that made me enjoy this even more because you get to see one persons perspective of what could happen.
I definitely recommend this if you enjoy legal thrillers! Randy is an engaging storyteller and will definitely pull at your emotions while keeping you entertained.
For those who are sensitive to reading about loss of life, especially military service members, parts of this may be difficult to read.
I received this book for free but was under no obligation to post a review. I do so under my own motivation and the opinions I have expressed in this review are honest and entirely my own.
Conniet19825 Stars Out Of 5Great Legal Suspsense bookSeptember 30, 2017Conniet1982Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a new author to me. But I was drawn to the summary and the subject of the book. My husband and I love watching SIX on history channel, and have watched a lot of Seal Team documentaries. I was very excited to read a book focusing on this. This legal suspense book had a lot of twists and turns and kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not read each page quick enough. His characters are well written and I could picture what was going on in my mind.
I received a copy of this book through the Litfuse Blogging program, all opinions are my own.
susanwalkergirlOrange, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Fast-Paced Thriller Filled with Intrigue Be Forewarned This Book Make Keep You Up at NightSeptember 25, 2017susanwalkergirlOrange, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Reading the description of the storyline is what drew me in and want to read Rule of Law by Randy Singer. Intrigue, suspense, politics and the news media sounds like a story ripped from todays headlines.
The story opens with Navy SEAL Team Six ready to deploy on a mission in Yemen, led by Patrick Quillen. Before the reader finds out if the mission will succeed, we are taken back two months earlier and meet Paige Chambers, a young attorney, who is about to come up against famed and unconventional attorney Wyatt Jackson. Little does she know how their futures will converge.
As the story continues the President, Vice President and their staff, military personnel and families, Supreme Court Justices, the news media and Islamic clerics all come into play to make this story, which is full of twists and turns, come alive.
Randy Singer is a writer whose work is new to me. I love it when I find a good author. Not only do I get to enjoy their current work, but now I can go back and read their earlier novels.
What makes an author a great writer verses one thats so, so? Im not sure I know the answer to that. But I can tell you from the opening pages of this book, I was hooked. I was interested in the story, I cared about the people, even the bad guys. I wanted to know what would happen next and I wanted to understand what made these people tick and why they did what they did. The pace didnt let up and it kept me guessing until the end. Be forewarned, Rule of Law may keep you up late at night to find out what happens next.
As I read Rule of Law, I was forced to examine my thoughts on what rights the President of the United States should have to executive privilege and what lengths they can go to, to protect our nation. Should they be allowed the bend or even break the law? Its one thing when its an administration that I trust and respect, but another when its one I dont support.
Rule of Law by Randy Singer is a fast-paced novel filled with intrigue and surprises. Its thought provoking and a great read. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading Randy Singers other novels.
