Series: Husbands for Hire
Roll into Hope Falls, Colorado, where three women are seeking mates to help them establish a sawmill. Jacob Granger, a logger-turned-bounty hunter, is hot on the trail of his brother’s killer. When a clue leads him to Hope Falls, he has no choice but to pretend to court Miss Thompson while waiting for the killer to show his hand. Will Jacob’s unexpected adoration of this sweet cook prompt him to speak vows before getting vengeance?

Overall: Delightful-highly recommended!
In this fun and unexpected story the dialogue moved at a rapid pace. Sometimes I was sure I heard the characters talking over each other, the varied conversations swirling around the room. The Hake trademark humor filled the story, but don’t let the laughs fool you, this tale isn’t just bits of humorous fluff. Themes of honor, acceptance and persevering love underscored the lessons learned in Hope Falls.
I would recommend Rugged and Relentless. I found it thoroughly enjoyable.
Rugged & Relentless has a good mix of mystery, subtle inspiration, love and forgiveness; a story that will keep your thoughts racing long after the last page is read.
I look forward to the next book in the series, I am so interested to find out what happens to these women and if they all settle down happily married in Hope Falls.
I absolutely loved the characters. This author definitely has a great wit to her writing. The plot was great. This is the first book in a series and it promises to be a great series.
I highly suggest this fun read.

This book, however, was a disappointment. It was hard to get into, boring, and completely unrealistic. I kept telling my husband, '"this is the dumbest book I have ever read". He told me to just put it down and start another one, but I persevered and finished it. It may be just me since there are so many good reviews. I don't get it though. This book didn't stand up, in my opinion. Please don't waste your money on it. Sorry.

Very well done!!

I can go right from book 1 to book2 and so forth. I enjoy re3ading how people of old handles the hardships they faces when going into new parts of the country that was being settled.
RaeH4 Stars Out Of 5Great characters and setting, well writtenJune 29, 2012RaeHQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Story of three women seeking to hire husbands to helP them run the lumber mill in the once mining town they own. The fourth woman is hurrying to her fiancé's side after he was injured in the mind collapse that shut down the town. Unbeknown to her, he is now crippled. The women seeking husbands place an add in the newspaper, but rather than reply in writing, they all reply in person and thus the adventur begins. Well written and a good plot. The only part I did not like was that the author had the women as the leaders and fircing the men to be subservient. That was fine for the employees, four applying that to the men who were trying to protect and care for the women felt a little too feminist for me. Otherwise an enjoyable book.
