Amy Lange has come to Hope Beach to mourn her brother's death. With the help of Coast guard officer Curtis Ireland, who has also recently lost a sibling, they begin to retrace Ben's last days and start coming to some disturbing conclusions.
I loved the dynamics between Amy and Curtis. As the investigation progress, there are disturbing clues that Amy's brother Ben could have killed Curtis' sister Gina. Each is fiercely loyal to their siblings, Amy defending her brother while Curtis seeks more evidence. This is a constant source of tension between them despite the growing attraction between them. I know that some readers will find it annoying that one moment one minute they are getting attracted to each other and working well together and on the next page they have a fight and do not want anything to do with each other, then a few pages later they are back working together. This does happen several times throughout the book and was a bit too repetitive for my tastes.
We also get to visit with Libby and Alex from the first book, and Sherriff Tom who plays a pretty big part in this story also. It was nice to have them interact with this story.
The only downside for me was the lack of the Christian component. In her other books, there is a strong element of God and Salvation that I found lacking here.
Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down until "real life" came knocking at my door. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Crystal4 Stars Out Of 5Unexpected endingMarch 3, 2017CrystalQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0After receiving an ominous email alluding to her brother's death not being an unfortunate accident but homicide, Amy Lange returns to the family's summer cottage on Hope Island, NC, where he died. She is determined to investigate her brother's death to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, Coast Guard officer Curtis Ireland holds onto the secret of the true identity of his niece's father- Amy's brother, Ben Lange. After gaining custody of his niece when his sister, Gina, did not survive a hit-and-run boating accident, Curtis worries that the wealthy Lange family will try to take her away from him. When Curtis and Amy's paths cross, he is intrigued with her because she seems the polar opposite of her playboy brother and hardline business mogul father. As the two grow closer, Amy and Curtis begin to suspect that Gina's death may be suspicious, too, and decide to work together to find out what happened with both deaths. Along the way, Curtis shares with her the fact that Ben is Raine's father connecting them even more. However, as the two investigate their siblings' questionable deaths, they begin to uncover evidence that Ben is not Raine's father landing them in a dangerous quest for answers with Raine in the middle.
Rosemary Cottage offers a suspense-filled plot as one clue after another leads to more and more questions. The outcome of the identity of Raine's mystery father and the circumstances under which Gina and Ben were killed were completely unexpected! In addition, I found myself hoping that the tensions between Curtis and Amy after he revealed Ben was (supposedly) Raine's father would not dampen their budding romance (and I was quite happy with their ending!).

ShannahAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A face-paced story with twists, turns, and RomanceJune 16, 2014ShannahAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I just can't get over how masterful a story teller Colleen Coble is. I've not read one of her books I didn't thoroughly enjoy. This book is no exception! I was hooked from page one! The story moved at just the right pace. Lots of action, mystery, and the right amount of romance.
The emotions the characters felt were realistic. I could feel Amy's grief, joy, contentment, and conflict as she struggled to keep her emotions in check. Her character is one I can certainly relate to. Curtis' character drew me in from the start. His caring, protective nature is admirable. Their romance, while at times I wanted to smack them both, was sweet.
The lesson in this story was two-fold. God wants us to be real. It's so easy to put on a facade, to pretend to be someone we aren't or feel something we don't, but that's not what God wants. The other lesson is about judgement. We are in no way, shape, or form in a position to judge others, yet we do it on a daily basis. That's not God's will either!
Overall, this is a face-paced story with plenty of twists, turns, and romance for anyone!

She has come to Hope Island to find out the truth. She has spent many happy summers on the island with her brother Ben. She can't believe he would have had an accident while surfing. He was too good a surfer for that to happen. She also is a midwife and sees the need on the island for her services, so she decides to move there permanently. As she begins her search into her brother's death, she gets reacquainted with Curtis Ireland. His sister, Gina, was Ben's girlfriend. Gina was killed in a boating accident about two weeks before Ben was killed. Amy convinces Curtis that both deaths deserve another look and what they uncover makes them suspicious about the deaths being accidents. What were Ben and Gina to each other? What were they involved in? Did Amy really know her brother as well as she thinks she did? Did Gina really make a change for the better after becoming a Christian and giving birth to Raine?
Curtis and Amy develop a friendship that begins to blossom into something deeper. First, they must resolve the issue of their siblings relationship with each other and if their deaths were connected to on another. Curtis and Amy staunchly defend their siblings in public, but privately begin to doubt how well they really knew their siblings. Throw in an attempted death, a politician on the move up the career ladder and a couple of unexpected rescues and readers have a very interesting story.
This novel has lots of suspense, action and surprises that will keep readers hooked until the end. The only thing I didn't like was the search for the kidnap victim took too long and seemed to drag the story down a little. I also didn't like how the two main characters would have an argument then contact each other to help with their investigation immediately thereafter and they would both agree to the outing. I didn't think that was too realistic. Other than that, this was a good solid read and left me wanting to read more books in this series.
