Nine talented authors contribute unique novellas to complete this collection. Some are favorites and others new to me. I enjoyed each story, which included outlaws, amnesia, orphans, and much more. The characters and settings and details are well developed, and the railway connection ties the book together. The contents are much more than romances, which is not my usual genre to read. I like the dramatic unfolding of a well-told tale, especially historical. I received this copy from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
Claudia5 Stars Out Of 5Truly a delightful read!December 1, 2016ClaudiaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Truly a delightful read! The Rails to Love Romance Collection obviously has romance, but these delightful stories also have adventure, mystery, history and a bit of circus. Nine stories by nine different authors. From Mary Owen, who longs to be an adventurous single woman like her aunt, while her father encourages her to settle down with a husband to Ellen Myer wardrobe mistress for Ringling Bros Circus, who just wants to keep her job so she can pay for her mother's medical bills--there is a story that will put you on the trains of old and take you places you've never been.
Robin Willson5 Stars Out Of 5A good long read with a strong Historical Christian Romance theme throughout.October 22, 2016Robin WillsonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A series of short stories with a railroad theme.
I like to read about women who can take care of themselves. They have the brains and pluck to keep going and get done what needs to be done - often putting others first. But then you add that encounter with a man who can come to her aid. And she learns that even though she is strong, it's nice to have someone around to help - and they become a team. Especially when he appreciates her qualities. I've met some consistent 'damsels in distress' who rely on a man for every whim. And the men who love to be needed and provide that constant assistance and care. But it's never been who I am or what I want. I prefer the other, strong independent type. In this book, you get all of the above. Plus those who don't think they're good enough for the one they love. And some Irish characters, a soft spot in my heart - they did play a strong part in constructing the railways. This is not a quick read, which I love. The theme is the same, but the stories are not shared.
