What a fun book! I am not even a romance reader really, but the idea of 7 authors collaborating on one story intrigued me. The story about 7 quite different brothers all marrying in one year could have been a blur of names but the 7-author technique allowed each one to have his (and her) story told individually, so it was not difficult at all. The brothers had unique traits (the flirty youngest, the colorful middle son trying to be noticed, the serious oldest, the Texas ranger, the dog-whispering-but-war-broken one, the business man who welcomes a young boy, and there is one just general helpful cowboy who ends up in a sticky situation). I thoroughly enjoyed the read, and appreciated the touch on the comforts of the Bible, as well as the ability to be romantic without endless bedroom scenes. Also just a pretty book to hold. ...Review edited as this system doesnt allow apostrophes, etc.

I just loved this book! I couldn't put it down. Each short story is connected with the same family. It tells about each brother and their attempt to find a wife. It's very well written and kept me glued to my seat reading each story. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I just wished they'd make a sequel to this book about the family!

While most of the novella collections Ive read from Barbour Books have a central theme to link the five to nine stories, with occasional cross-over of characters, this collection features the seven Hart brothers of Texas. Ordered by their father (in the prologue by Erica Vetsch) to marry within the year 1874, each Hart brother must find a bride to inherit their share of the familys vast spread.

School teacher Emma is quick pull down the posters youngest son, Hays Hart, posts to advertise his bride search. Caro Cordova fights her attraction to Chisholm, a Texas Ranger she fears is more dedicated to his duty than he ever could be to a wife. Doctor Travis Hays is reunited with his Annie, but they must overcome hurt and fears before making a new family with Annies nine year old son.

Another second chance at love story awaits storekeeper Sam (Huey) Houston Hart and the woman who turned him down twelve years before, Coralee Culpepper. Crockett Hays, however, never let neighbor Jane Haymaker know about his long-time crush on her and she never told him either. There is a mystery to solve and a drunken father to contend on their way to happily ever after.

In the cutest story of the lot, practical oldest brother Stephen Austin Hart writes away for a bride and find himself with a dilemma when she arrives with her twin sister, identical only in looks. And in the most romantic of the stories, Civil War veteran Bowie Hart tracks down the northern nurse who helped him heal. The one woman who never flinched from his injuries, Elise Rivers readily accepts his proposal of a marriage in name only to escape a dismal situation.

These are seven very different brothers whose bride hunting stories are wrapped up nicely in the epilogue, again by Erica Vetsch.

Highly recommended for those who love sweet romance with a faith element in novella length. A new favorite among the novella collections I've read from Barbour Books.

I was very content to take my time reading this book. It offered excitement, adventure, God's Word, along with all the human failings and successes one could hope for in a compilation from different authors. Each one maintained the previous story's background and built upon that to individualize their story, allowing continuity of the family's history. Very enjoyable read and recommend to anyone wanting to take a step back in time.

    Seven Brides for Seven Texans

If you love historical fiction, then this book will not disappoint you. I had a lot of fun reading about the Hart family of Hartville, Texas. Each of the authors brought something new and refreshing to their part of the story, while still managing to ensure the book read like one novel.

In the story, George Washington Hart, GW for short, tells all seven of his sons on New Years Day, that they have until the end of the year to find a wife and get married. He wants to ensure that he has time to spend with his grandchildren due to some health concerns, though he doesnt tell them this. The ensuing craziness brings about more love, peace, and happiness than his sons could ever have imagined. Each story is dedicated to a different son who is attempting to find a wife. They each have a different way of going about it also. Hays puts signs up all over town while Austin sends off for a mail order bride. Chisholm meets the lady of his dreams while working and Crocket never dreams he will find love while helping a neighbor after a fire takes their home. Travis and Houston both find love with girls they knew when they were younger and Bowie marries for convenience, but finds love along the way. Each story is infused with laughter, tears, hope, and daring. The book is a lot of fun and will bring smiles as each man finds their heart and learns how to love. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
