this is the director's first film and there's a saying in film making:"your first film isn't your third film". ( the first one is a wonderful adventure and learning experience, very rare if it's a deep story that strikes a chord with many)... very creative idea, but i would have to agree with "church librarian" who also gave it a two star, 'fair' rating, it seems to be hyped a bit. front cover reads,"...one of the best Christian films ever produced...". would like to see the rest of that sentence, it seems out of context. the film is definitely not in that category. shows six awards on the cover. that seems to be misleading, as well.... not recommended, but i encourage the makers to go deeper into the Christian experience and take note of such film makers as the kendrick bros. and christiano bros... keep reaching higher, and keep praising Him. the Lord Jesus is worthy of all our honor and praise. Lord bless you all. : )
Nice comedy that made me laugh and even pulled at my heart a couple of times. The story reminds us of the importance of Christian fellowship. The church is more than just a place to worship God, it's a place to be encouraged and loved in the spirit of Jesus. I can see why it's won so many awards.
This movie was touted as "one of the best Christian films ever produced" and has a string of awards on the front of the case. I was not expecting Hollywood standards of acting and cinematography but at least something closer than most Christian films. The story is cute, if somewhat implausible, but the acting is mediocre at best. All the dialogue sounded as if it were being read straight from the script. Sound quality was poor. Quite a few holes as far as believability, which could be overlooked if the acting and production were a bit better. A couple of funny moments - I'm not above Christians poking fun at our own idiosyncrasies - but they were pretty forced. Not a terrible movie, but definitely not the best that's out there and it did drag at times. Ok for family movie night, although I think even most kids would find it cheesy.
