Publisher's Description

Most premarital counseling books have fun quizzes, games, and fill-in-the-blanks, but don’t allow the couples to focus on serious issues. This book explores the art of conversation, and the process of good listening and counseling. Right From the Start: A Premarital Guide for Couples is full of real-life stories and advice to help couples prepare for and thrive in married life, not just to pass a test. Through story-telling, David and Lisa Frisbie open up the doors for couples to hash out their ideas, differences, and misunderstandings before anyone is hurt in the future. A little drama now is better than a lot of trauma later.Marriage is for life, and it’s your duty as a couple to deal with the issues now before you find out it’s too late.

Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  We are family counselors based in Southern California, authors of 14 books about marriage and family life. We write articles for "Thriving Family" and "ParentLife" magazines, among others. We love marriages thrive and families be healthy!

What was your motivation behind this project?  Marriages are falling apart; many are opting to not even get married in the first place. How can we help a couple plan to "go the distance?" What does a couple need to know and do "right from the start" to have a healthy relationship?

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  Our title has two meanings: 1) Things you need to know "right from the start" and 2) Getting your marriage "right" from the start It's a great book for dating and engaged couples, and it's very helpful for early-married couples too!

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  This was a life-changing project for us! We sat down with engaged and early married couples across western and eastern Europe, Canada, all over the united states. We learned so much! Here's what you need to know "right from the start"...

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  David reads Larry Osborne and Don Miller. Lisa reads Francine Rivers, Elizabeth George, and Stormie O'Martian. These are a few of our favorite writers --- we have many more! Both of us are avid readers and writers: our house like a library! :)

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  David is an ordained minister and has performed more than 350 weddings worldwide. He teaches family studies at Southern Nazarene University and has taught and lectured in premarital counseling at colleges and seminaries literally around the world.
