i blog 4 books4 Stars Out Of 5April 8, 2010i blog 4 booksAs an avid fan of The Rick and Bubba Show, I was excited to see this book as one of my choices from Thomas Nelson's book review program. The "Two Sexiest Fat Men Alive" have written an entire book about their favorite subject ... food. They talk about how much they love food, what kind of foods they love (all of them!), what kind of places they like to eat food (anywhere!), and give all sorts of rules for eating.I will say that the book was really funny. I literally laughed out loud several times as I read this book ... much to my husband's dismay since I usually read it in bed before going to sleep at night! I've never read a book purely for comedic enjoyment, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I think this book would be most enjoyed in bits and pieces as you're looking for a good laugh ... rather than read straight through.I especially enjoyed the "Top 10 Lists" and the discussion on "Giblets versus Jiblets" where they cite Rick's Memaw and Big Bird as authoritative experts on the pronunciation of "giblets." Hilarious stuff!I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson's book review program in exchange for my honest review of the book.

Desiree4 Stars Out Of 5April 6, 2010DesireeI received a complimentary copy of Rick and Bubbas Big Honkin Book of Grub from Thomas Nelsons Book Review Program. I had never heard of radio hosts Rick and Bubba prior to reading the book. I found this book rather funny. This book does not consist of the typical diet book topics. It is actually the opposite, the authors focus on why they love food and their diet plan is funny. They are not authors writing a serious diet book about how to lose weight in a practical way. This book should not be seen as a help tool for those wishing to lose weight. However, if you are tired of all the diet talk this book can definitely lighten the dreaded topic. The authors included some recipes in the book. The recipes are not necessarily the healthiest, but they are comfort foods. I personally enjoyed the humor in this book. I knew when I picked it up this book was meant to be funny. I had fun reading some of the excerpts to my husband, and he thought they were very true on some of their points. The lists the authors included on various topics were hilarious. I would recommend this book to anyone just wanting to relax and laugh. The premise of this book is basically why food is an art and should be enjoyed.
Michelle COntario, CanadaAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5April 5, 2010Michelle COntario, CanadaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleNot having had the privilege of knowing who Rick & Bubba were, I was expecting this book to be extra motivation to get ready to fire up the grill. After accepting the reality that this was not a full blown cook book, but rather an easy to read book chopped full of food related comedic reference along with a dozen or so recipes. One of the recipes to definitely try is the BBQ Sauce. I will say one of my favourite parts of this book was "Top Ten Reasons Why There Will Be Potluck In Heaven." After reading this book, I realized that I may not be the target audience of this book, but my brother would love it so I passed it onto him, and he loved it. He likes the easy to read books that are not your standard fare. Anyone interested in a good laugh may enjoy this book, but be aware, read the publisher's synopsis, this is not a full-scale cookbook.
Lindsay2 Stars Out Of 5March 26, 2010LindsayI found this book a little disgusting. But to be honest it is because we are trying to eat healthy in our house. The book definitely has some funny moments but all in all I was not a fan. Though it did have some interesting recipes that I will have to try.
