Michelle R.5 Stars Out Of 5Really Love this Bible!!!July 13, 2015Michelle R.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for The New Jerusalem Bible, Hardcover.I got this as a replacement for a Bible I lost. I could not find "The complete Jewish Bible" anywhere. It is like my copy vanished out of my apartment. I was so forlorn. I could not find what I wanted, and found this as a substitute to what I had. I am finding that I enjoy the verbiage just as much. I enjoy comparing it to NASB, NIV, HCSB, New Century, NLT, and KJV. I like to see how each translation reads on certain verses in scripture in order to better understand them. Now that I see that "The Complete Jewish Bible" is offered, I will probably get that too. I usually get hard bound copies of the Bible and don't mess around with fancy leather bound copies. I keep
them for awhile, and give them away.
The pages are nice, and easy to turn, and fairly decent print. What I enjoy the most is that these "Jewish translations" seem more to the point, and easier to understand. The true meaning of the scripture is not lost because of "old English cultural use of language." I think sometimes the true meaning of a scripture is misinterpreted because of a misunderstanding of the use of an old common Anglo-Saxon English term, which is then "reinterpreted" into modern English usage, which then causes some people to think that there are Biblical controversies. In fact, properly interpreted and understand, the Bible actually verifies itself, and there are no controversies in scripture at all.
I found this to be especially true when really the New Jerusalem Bible also. Scripture just seems a bit clearer. I look forward to comparing this Bible with The complete Jewish Scriptures.
I love Bible's and if you are a Bible scholar, and like to read different translations, and want something fresh, and new, different, and clearer, this IS ABSOLUTELY THE BIBLE FOR YOU.
I recommend it for anyone who is serious about searching the scriptures for truth. It is a great Bible to have and to use for serious study.
Thanks for making this so available, and affordable, and such good quality, with such different choices, for everyone's budge. -

This hardcover has all of the notes and extras that most people are looking for. The "standard" version as well as the "readers" do not have the notes and extras. Also, listed on the same page is a "leather" version, it does not include the notes, etc.. So, choose carefully. ISBN - 13:978-0385142649 has the notes.

J WilkeySylva, NCAge: 25-34Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Amazing Study BibleOctober 14, 2012J WilkeySylva, NCAge: 25-34Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for The New Jerusalem Bible, Hardcover.I recently discovered the New Jerusalem translation, and this version is fast becoming my favorite study Bible. The notes are great, and offer an academic perspective. Also, when the original Greek or Hebrew is perhaps unclear, this translation makes note of that. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in serious academic theological study.
