LGHudson5 Stars Out Of 5WONDERFUL BOOK!!April 30, 2017LGHudsonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book is a delight from beginning to end! Slattery's excellent characterization makes this book so appealing. Restoring Love deals with flawed people who've been saved by Grace experiencing real life problems. It's a story of a new beginning for Angela. It's a story of forgiving for Mitch. It's a whole LOT of stories for Bianca and her family. Because Mitch and Angela (and some others) were willing to to reach out when they saw someone with a need, they all were able to experience Restoring Love.

I have read each of her novels and each are unique, bringing out different aspects of faith as it intersects with the characters experiences. Here is another exceptional story that draws readers into situations that can be seen or read about anywhere.
Basically, the novel reveals how God can take broken lives, hearts and spirits and restore with love, hope and faith. Angela is one of my favorite characters who though she has lots of questions and doesnt understand a lot of what it means or looks like to be a Christian, continues to put herself out there for others. Angela is not a young woman nor is the man she meets named Mitch who has some his own baggage he brings into the relationship.
Hope is what one experiences when reading the novel as readers will see no matter how hard life can be, God can reach deeper still to hearts that are open. Mitch is a man who is in a hard place with his ex-wife and one of his sons that involves co-dependency and drugs. What does tough love look like in that type of situation including the fact that Mitch comes from a Christian point of view while others dont?
I think the novel is an excellent example of going where the hurting and broken are, and being the hands and feet of Christ. The story shows that God works through those who are called by His name to love on those who dont yet know Him or understand anything about Him during heart-breaking times. This is a good novel that people can read and be uplifted by. Good job Jennifer!

Angela is a middle-aged woman, about to become a grandmother, and she still dresses as though she is young flashy and revealing. But I so enjoyed reading her story here she is, an older woman who has made lots of really bad decisions in her life but now has turned to Christ. She is trying to live a new and different life but she doesnt know the rules of being a good church goer. (As an aside, I think the cover of the book is a little misleading I dont think Angelas arm would look so young).
Many of the characters in this book were first introduced in the authors early book, Beyond I Do, but this book completely stands alone.
One aspect of the book that I really enjoyed was that the romance is between an older couple they talked about grown kids and grandbabies quite different from the usual romance. Mitch and Angela have different baggage that comes from living many decades and not just a couple. They face real life issues as words hurt, people lash out, life is hard, yet God restores. I really enjoyed reading Restoring Love and highly recommend it. I received this book from the author in return for my honest opinion.
CafinatedReads20095 Stars Out Of 5Soul Restoring!April 3, 2017CafinatedReads2009Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Let me get myself together for a moment. *Deep breaths*. Ok. There, that's better. Where was I? Oh yes. I was going to tell you my thoughts on this book. This is my first Jennifer Slatterly book. It most certainly will not be my last. It's like this book is speaking to me. It's a book on second chances, on honesty, on restoring faith and hope. That's what this book did to me now, after recent troubles in my life.
Through the characters, both good ones and bad, I fell in love with this book. Their stories showed me that if I believe, if I have faith, my heart will be restored. Leaning on God and understanding that it's all in His time, His will, love can be restored no matter what. Letting go, forgiveness, and acceptance make up wonderful pages of this book. The characters blended perfectly with the plot line and captivated me, heart and soul.
Ms. Slatterly's book is deserving of no less than 5 stars. If I could give it 5,000 stars I would. I highly recommend that you grab this book, devour it and feel the feels that I felt in this book. You won't be sorry when you do. I can't wait to read another amazing book by her talented hands.

This is not a feel good story full of fluff. It is real characters with flaws, real life problems, and perfect examples of how bad choices cause deep scars. I loved how it shows the redemptive power of Christ and how His Amazing Grace and love is sufficient to provide our needs. I would love to see a sequel, as I didn't want it to end. Make sure you have tissues and time to sit and absorb. I highly recommend this. This is my first book by this author but I definitely want to read more.
I won a copy on a blog. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
