Editorial Reviews

"Refreshing and wise, Resilient takes the words of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount right out of the 'nice-but-unrealistic' box we've placed them into, and centers this rich teaching smack into our messy real lives where it belongs. Resilient is hopeful, practical, and challenging—I loved it."

"Beautifully written, deeply inspiring meditations to begin or end the day. Both the beginning disciple and the senior saint—and everyone in between—will find these meditations prodding, challenging, and nurturing."

"Jesus’ Sermon is the kingdom made practical. The practicalities of living God’s love, of enacting God’s grace, of taking up our cross and walking in the resurrection. Sheridan's meditations on Christ's teachings are a welcome addition for anyone wanting to get caught up in this wonderful business of putting Jesus' words into practice."

"This is a wonderful collection of short but deep reflections on what a difference Jesus' Sermon on the Mount might make to us if only we let it. Read it at your own risk. Once you have read it your life may never be the same again."

"From a personal journey through the Sermon on the Mount, Sheridan Voysey encourages disciples of Jesus to develop a strong spiritual heart. Sheridan writes from experience and the book will prove a blessing to all, as it certainly is for me."

"When a heart is teachable in and through the trials of life, God grows a reservoir of wisdom through which he can move, act, and reveal. Sheridan Voysey is that heart and he shares much truth and wisdom in this book. You will be encouraged in your own heart to keep believing Jesus for your life. Thank you, Sheridan, for leading us to deeper waters of truth in Christ."

"Many books have been written on the Sermon on the Mount, but few have focused on its underlying theme of resilience. Sheridan Voysey has done that now in this fine devotional. Through compelling stories and deep biblical reflection, Resilient reveals how Jesus’ teaching can build spiritual, emotional, and relational strength when put into practice. I highly recommend it."

"When it comes to the Sermon on the Mount, Sheridan Voysey has now written the resource of first resort. What a gem!"

"'So come ... whoever you are. Jesus takes all.' Resilient’s first entry grabbed me and invited me to keep reading. In digestible helpings, Sheridan Voysey serves up a bold invitation to a Jesus-shaped life that woos me to say yes ... and to keep saying yes."

"There was once a teacher who drew an enormous crowd and he beckoned them to sit on a hillside and learn of him. If you are hurried, stressed, confused—if you need peace, if you’re looking for real happiness, listen to the teacher. Sheridan Voysey has captured the essence of what Jesus said to the poor, the brokenhearted—and his words echo across time and into every willing heart. May you be comforted and happy as you sit and listen to the one who loved you most."

WOW - this book is incredible - this author is honorable and is intelligent and interesting. I cannot tell you how moved I was. I found myself crying and didn't realize it until I needed a Kleenex. I felt what he had to say was mammoth to those who read it and life changing. He talked to about a mighty GOD and how we can come to HIM and why we should. He talked about JESUS and the beatitudes and the great commission. How this changed peoples lives including some prisoners lives in "The Rock" - it was amazing. Ya'll you would be missing out on a life changing book if you do not get this, this is a book that is for new Christians and those who have been Christians for a long time - I have been one my whole life - I am a pastors daughter and I was told several things - and one main important thing was that you do not take something that someone - a preacher or anyone that is telling you something - without Scripture to back it up you do not believe them - and two if they do give Scripture to back it up you make sure that you read the Scripture around it to make sure that they are not twisting the Scripture around it to fit what they are trying to teach you. Well this author is genuine - they backed everything up he was teaching me with Scripture and that Scripture was genuine - not twisted. I was very impressed, because most books the author twists things to fit what they are trying to get across. I loved this book. I received this book to read and to give you an honest review.

This book is a great devotional based on Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. It is split up into 90 "chapters" or devotionals, each starting with a scripture verse, then followed by Sheridan's commentary, and finishes up with a couple of questions to get you thinking and digging deeper into the Word.

Sheridan's style of writing makes this book easy to read, whilst providing great insight and food for thought. You can read it straight through like a book, but I feel you'll get more out of it by reading it as a devotional and taking some time to ponder on each chapter.

Well written, easy to read and a great take on the Sermon on the Mount. Buy the book and start reading. I'm sure you won't be sorry you did.
