Product Description

The Bird and the Bee Sides begins with a baker's dozen of original new tunes collected under the moniker of The Nashville Tennis EP. With all five members writing and taking turns on lead vocals, it's perhaps Relient K's most diverse effort to date, including Thiessen's altcountry "At Least We Made It This Far," bassist John Warne's "The Last, The Lost, The Least," which is explosive both sonically and in its social commentary, and new drummer Ethan Luck's punk rock reggae "No Reaction," to name but a few highlights. As for the "Bee Sides" Relient K remixed and re-mastered 13 tracks, including an acoustic version of hit single "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been". There are also tunes from The Vinyl Countdown, The Employee Of The Month EP, The Creepy EP, The Apathetic EP and, as Thiessen puts it, "a ton of other stuff that you can't even find on the internet - at least not yet."

This album is great! I have almost all of Relient k's albums, and "Birds and the bee sides" is one of the best I've heard so far. Definitely worth getting even for new Relient K fan, although "five score and seven years ago" is my personal fav.

This is a wonderful collection of songs, I really enjoy it. A quick note though, the song Faking My Own Suicide really shouldn't be classified as 'crude joking'. What the song is saying is, wouldn't we love and appreciate the people around us more if we knew they were going to die? I actually find this to be a very serious and thought-provoking song.

I listened to the samples for the songs on this album... is this a joke? I really like some of Relient K's songs, but I question whether they should have been more discriminating with their humor. Being fun and witty is one thing, which I'm sure the band has a lot of potential for, but saying crude or inappropriate things is a different story. I don't get how in their last album, "Five Score and Seven Years Ago", Matt Thiessen can sing a great song about God's words healing the places that our words hurt ("Bite My Tongue") and in the same album sing about "Faking My Own Suicide" to make a girl feel sorry for him. We should deal with our emotions, but not in a way that can hurt others. I know some kids my own age that think that song is pretty cool. Is Relient K thinking about how their music affects their legions of listeners? The Bible says to stay away from coarse joking, which is a category this new album's title could easily fit into. The bottom line is that I think Relient K could be twenty times better if they took things more seriously.

Definitely the most extensive and thrilling of all Relient K EP's, which is saying a lot, comes the much anticipated and not short-awaited The Birds and the Bee Sides. Definitely an EP for any Relient K fan to get. This EP contains at least more than two dozen songs on it, many of which are almost impossible to find other places. Those who can not find their earlier ep's on the internet or in stores will definitely by buying this EP because it contains songs from every EP they've made. It also includes acoustic tracks, but that is not the attraction. This EP is coming out with twelve new songs previously unheard before written by Matt. Thiessen and by the band members. Previous fans of Ace Troubleshooter may want to check out John Warne's new song "The Last, The Lost, The Least". This is also the first project with the new drummer Ethan Luck and I'm anxious to hear more of what he can do on the drums.Out of what I've heard, two new songs on their myspace, and owning some of their previous EP's, this is going to be an awesome album. I'm always impressed with Relient K and any fan must get this EP.
