Jacob WilsonAge: 25-34Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5A Concise and Deep Take on Reformed TheologyFebruary 21, 2019Jacob WilsonAge: 25-34Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I dove into this set as quick as I could.
Geerhardus Vos is one of the great Dutch Reformed theologians, and these editions represent his Reformed Dogmatics recently translated into English for the first time. Each volume in this set tackles most of the classic topics of systematic theology, like The Knowability of God, Predestination, the Trinity, Grace, Soteriology, and so much more.
The Question-Answer format to these volumes takes some time to get used to. However, once you're a few pages in, it becomes a refreshing and succinct way to read and reference material in each topic. Vos does an incredible job synthesizing the beliefs and traditions of his time into his theological framework. I especially love how Vos' work is split into 5, thin volumes instead of packed into a 1000 page book. Like Vos, these editions are highly readable.
I spent most of last year reading through Bavinck's Reformed Dogmatics, and was finally able to get my hands on Bavinck's friend, Geerhardus Vos' Reformed Dodmatics. As with most of Lexham's publications, this set is gorgeous, bound wonderfully, and such a gift to the theological community.
If you're newer to systematic theology, or wanting to steep yourself in quality reformed thinking, or just wanting to read more about some incredible theological topics, Vos is a great companion to spend some time with.
