Tell us a little about yourself. I am an octogenarian who has taught Bible and world religions on several Texas college campuses and served as an adjunct professor at Midwestern Seminary and Golden Gate Seminary. I also served as a "foreign missionary on home missions' soil" at Berkeley, Ca. during the turbulent sixties--ministering and witnessing to Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, and other aliens to God's grace.
What was your motivation behind this project? To produce a book of meditations that would encourage, console, inspire, and challenge the reader. Hopefully, the reader will experience a more intimate touch with the Master and be spiritually energized.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Perhaps some will find comfort and the Source of deep, inner peace as the Spirit of God speaks to their hearts when they read the book. Others may be challenged to examine their spiritual maturity or be awakened to the challenge of being compassionately involved with human need--whether physical or spiritual.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I discovered once again how important it is to "rest in His green meadows" and to draw strength from times of stillness and quietness in His presence.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My Dad was my great inspiration. He delighted in writing inspirational short stories, essays, poetry, and hilarious proverbs. I used several paintings by renown artists in my book. They graciously gave me permission to do this. Other artists' masterpieces, like Holman Hunt's "The Light of the World" are now public domain.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: My husband supplied the beautiful pictures that accompany the devotional thoughts. We have been fortunate to travel to many lands, and Paul Dyke is a superb photographer.
