LET'S GO TO A MOVIE
REFLECTIONS FOR MOVIE-LOVERS is written for the movie-loving fan who enjoys exploring the spiritual aspects of the movies. This book of 365 devotionals compares and contrasts movie plots and themes with Bible stories and biblical truth.
The devotions are grouped by weekly "Film Fests" according to genre-romantic comedies, action pictures, fantasy films, classic comedy, foreign films, modern comedy, war films, etc. These "Film Fests" are seasonal and holiday appropriate. Love stories fall on the week of Valentines Day. War stories fall on the week of Memorial Day, and Christmas stories just prior to Christmas.
Each devotional contains: the movie title, the year of release, and any Academy Awards it may have won, the American Film Institute Top 100 ranking (when applicable), the MPAA rating, and a discussion concerning how the movie or scenes relate to the Christian life.
nicole23may2 Stars Out Of 5Not What I Expected... Not Christian MoviesOctober 15, 2015nicole23mayQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 1Being that I found this book on the Christianbook website I thought I was getting a book which lists and describes movies for Christians to watch that contain Christian content or at least adhere to our morals. I figured each chapter would showcase movies for a specific topic: Family, Couples, Friends, Har Times, Kids, Etc...
Instead, this is a book which tries to find some element of Christian content in movies we already see on TV. Even that might not have been so bad, but it seemed very far fetched when the author tried to explain the Biblical meaning behind movies like: Jaws, Psycho and Jurassic Park. Don't get me wrong, I love those movies, but this was not the book I was looking for in terms of trying to find good Christian movies.
