This is a great book however I will admit that readers can tell that the author is a college president because the book reads like a textbook. It's packed with information however it lacks a certain level of story telling to tie in the information in an engaging manner. All in all I would say it is a good book for a "new" leader especially if they are in ministry.

      Book Review: Redefining Leadership

Leaders. We've all had bad ones and good ones. But good or bad is a secondary issue. Christlike or not is the primary issue. As Stowell shows, Christlikeness has everything to do with character -so much more than just getting results or outcome driven leadership.

Joe Stowell writes about leadership and leading like Jesus: what it is and why it matters.. He carefully makes a case distinguishing between character driven and results driven leadership. He accurately uses Biblical examples and humbly sharing personal examples, One of the most meaningful lines for me in the book was: "He was under the delusion that God's positive work through him affirmed that God was pleased with him and his life."

Stowell's book divisions are helpful in the redefining leadership process: a redefined priority, identity, and a redefined leader.

This is a deep book. While the essence is clear, the depths are profound. It is not a fast read. It needs to be processed and applied. But in so doing, will change one's life as well as the entity being led.

If you are a pastor, a CEO, or in any kind of leadership- you not only need to get this book, you need to review it annually with your team.
