Zhen Li's choices make you wonder what you could endure for your faith. I particularly loved how intertwined people's lives were without their knowledge. Be faithful is the message.
Carrie5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent!March 19, 2013CarrieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book will stir your heart and challenge your faith. Red Ink confronts the harsh trials Christians are facing Communist China, especially in dealing with the one-child law. This is a carefully and beautifully written book that will prompt you to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who live in China. Many thanks to Kathi Macias for writing this compelling book.
Sufficient in JesusAge: 18-24Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5A much needed book that fell flat.February 18, 2013Sufficient in JesusAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 1I was shocked by this book.
Not by the true horrors of the Chinese prisons and human rights violation's therein, which should shock and outrage us but by the presentation.
I understood that this book would be harsh when I received it but I have read and heard about these harsh subjects before and read other books by the author, but I found this book shocking.
The was too much information about teenage Maggie's immoral and promiscuous life and her immoral boy friend.
Also there was entirely too much information about perverse sexuality in both the prison and Maggie's life I believe that because these was part of both these characters lives it deserved to be told however it could have been told instead of described.
I was unable to finish this novel, and honestly wanted to steam clean my brain when I put it down.
I fear that this novel will be a stumbling block to unsuspecting readers who wish to read about Christian persecution and instead will find unnecessary content that could have been left out.
I pray my review will not offend anyone, I don't want to offend anyone, but I do want to not put any stumbling block in front of myself or anyone else, please understand that I love the author, she is a sister in Christ! I truly wish no other people will read this while looking for a book about a much needed subject.
tmthomas5 Stars Out Of 5Red InkMay 21, 2012tmthomasQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Kathi Macias' works of Christian fiction are a blessing to all those who read. Red Ink is my personal favorite. In this book she brings the character Zhen-Li to life. As Zhen-Li stands on her faith despite the impending consequences, you can't help but feel you are right there beside her, beckoning her to go on. This is a beautiful read and I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

Because Yang Zen-Li chooses to deny her faith in Christ, she is serving ten years in a China prison camp. This leaves her husband and sister-in-law to take care of their young son. Evil is all around in the prison camp and prison guard Tai Tong is among one of the most brutal and is full of hatred for the prisoners. Knowing how this prisoner treats her cell mate, Yang is fearful of what will happen to her if she doesn't do what he wants.
Meanwhile Julia, a grandmother in a California nursing home thinks back to the time she and her husband served time in China as missionaries. As she is thinking about this, the Lord lays on her heart to pray for a woman in China.
In Red Ink, Kathi Macias tells another heartbreaking story of horrific things happening to Christian's who stand up for their faith. Sadly, this is loosely based on a true story, and knowing there are women in China going through what this young lady did in this story has caused me to start praying more for those in other countries sharing God's Word. To think there are people that actually face these things gives me chills. In Red Ink, Kathi again captures our hearts with unbelievable characters that are unique and play their parts in the story so powerful that you feel their pain, and their joy in knowing the Lord. This heartbreaking story tells the power of God's love and protection in our lives. The faith of Yang Zheng-Li is amazing. I was in tears at the end of the story. I won't share it, you need to buy the book and read it, but it is such an amazing part of the book, and truly shows what can happen if Christians share Christ, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
I love this book, and all of Kathi Macias' books that I've read. If she is a new author for you, it is a MUST that you grab a copy of her books and read them. They will stay with you for a long time, and they will truly change you life.
I received this book from the author to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 55.
