Nick Noble comes from a rich heritage of Montana ranchers. He loves the land, the cattle and his family. But as a rebellious, cocky young man, he threw it all away. Now, ten years later, his father has passed away and the threat of losing the family ranch brings Nick back home to face the error of his ways.
Piper Sullivan is an investigative reporter determined to exact justice for her brother who was falsely imprisoned by Nick Noble for murder—a murder she believes Nick committed. Incognito as the ranch cook, Piper expects to extract a confession from Nick. But she, too, has secrets to hide and a past that torments her. Nick and Piper are set on a collision course that could devastate them.
The characters introduced in the first book of the Noble Legacy series stay with the reader long after the story has ended. They are courageous individuals trying to live honorably in the midst of suffering and sorrow.
This is a story of forgiveness, learning to accept God’s forgiveness, and extending that same grace to others. In Reclaiming Nick, Susan May Warren has told a tale that demonstrates how God desires to reclaim all his lost children and, like the father of the prodigal son, receives them with rejoicing. – Vasthi Acosta, Christian Book Previews.com

Ten years ago, Nick Noble stormed away from his family's ranch in Phillips, Montana, with no intentions of ever returning. However, when his father dies and leaves part of the ranch to Nick's ex-best friend, Cole St. John, Nick returns to the Silver Buckle with an unswerving tenacity bent on keeping Cole out of his family's legacy. Nick's anger is grounded in a belief that Cole is out to take his family's fortune just like he stole Maggie- Nick's high school flame. Meanwhile, journalist Piper Sullivan arrives at the Silver Buckle with her own agenda. Under the pretense of being a ranch cook, Piper believes she will be able to get close enough to Nick to gather evidence that he framed her brother for murder. However, as she begins to spend more and more time with Nick, she comes to understand that he had no ill intent when he arrested her brother. As the two grow closer and begin to fall for each other, Piper becomes an instrumental healing agent for Nick in taking responsibility for his past mistakes and finding hope for the future as family secrets and attempts to sabotage the family's ranching business begin to unravel his world.

Reclaiming Nick contains all of the elements of a good drama-laced embittered family legacy story- rich boy gone rogue, struggling ranch that has been in the family for generations, affairs of the heart, deception, and having to cope with never feeling good enough. Although the first part of the novel deals largely with Nick's anger and bitterness from the past and his actions at times resemble annoying adult temper tantrums, the story soon kicks into high gear unfolding a complicated plot full of excitement! This is one of those stories that you think you know what's going to happen but the reader gasps when the truth is revealed. While at times the varying themes may have seemed a tangled mess, Warren brings everything together with an ending that had me reeling with surprise! Can't wait to read the next two novels in this series!

Reclaiming Nick - Book 1 in Susan May Warrens Noble Legacy Series

Nick Noble left home many years ago after finding out his best friend, Cole, is now with his girlfriend and ends up arguing with his father. He is presently working in a restaurant when his father's attorney, Sam Lovell, finds him and notifies him, his father has past away. The attorney informs Nick, his family ranch, the Silver Bucklet is badly in debt and his sister is planning to turn it into a tourist attraction to save it. And, his father left half of the ranch to Nick's childhood friend.

Nick returns home to the family ranch and attempts to get the half left to Cole back.

Nick's past is catching up with him. The sister of a man he had arrested for murder is after information on him. Nick finds out a lot has happened since he left home as well as a lot of secrets kept from him.

I felt sad about Nick leaving home and never returning to get to the bottom of things he had no knowledge of before it was to late. I felt happy for his father, who after making mistakes, turned his life around and found the Lord. His father left his children with memories of his Christian beliefs.

This is a books about the things that happen within families and how if not handled properly can made for a bad situation. But God steps in to help work things out. I strongly recommend this book.

Author/Artist Review

Author: Susan May Warren
Submitted: January 30, 2008

Tell us a little about yourself.  Susan May Warren is the best-selling author of more than 20 novels and novellas with Tyndale, Barbour and Steeple Hill. A three time Christy award finalist, and three time winner of the Inspirational Readers Choice contest, Susan currently has over 500,000 books in print. A seasoned women’s events speaker and writing teacher, she’s taught at the American Christian Fiction Writer’s conference for the past three years, and she runs a fiction editing service mybooktherapy training writers how to tell a great story. After serving for eight years with her husband and four children as missionaries in Khabarovsk, Far East Russia she now writes full-time while her husband runs a hotel on Lake Superior in northern Minnesota

What was your motivation behind this project?  I have two friends. Let’s call them Jim and John. Both are great guys, men I grew up with. They’re friends. One day, Jim gets sick. He’s sick for a long time, until the doctors discover he has liver failure. He has a beautiful wife and four sweet children. Jim is dying, and without a liver transplant, he won’t live to see his children grow up. His entire family (and it’s a large one) is tested. No one is a match. A prayer request goes out to churches far and wide. For two years, nothing happens. Then, one day, John, who has been praying for Jim, decides to go to the doctor and get tested to see if he’s a match. Miraculously, though they are unrelated, he matches. And, although he has a wife and three little boys, John decides to give part of his liver to Jim. John spends the next year preparing for this surgery, taking care of himself, eating right. And then one day risks his life to save the life of his friend. Jim lives. John lives. And it makes me ponder the gift of grace –what it means to give– and receive. Meanwhile, I am studying Philippians –especially verse 1:6– I’m overjoyed with a God who is constantly at work in my life, through all times and circumstances and I wonder what that might look like from the view of person with a tainted past, whatever that might be… For a year, God kept bringing these two events to my mind, tangling them with the love I have of all things cowboys (trucks, horses, country music, and so on). Then one day, I went fishing. While I was trying to land a walleye, I told my fishing pals (Dan, Bob and Andrew –yeah, I see the oddball in the group) about my story. I discovered that Bob so happened to live on a ranch…
