Do Christians Have Good Answers for the Really Tough Questions? Dr. R. C. Sproul believes they do. In this unique book, he deals with the most common objections to the truths of the Christian faith, including: * Has science disproved the existence of God? * Will non-Christians who never hear of Christ go to hell? * Is it narrow-minded and bigoted to believe Christ is only one way to God? * Why do people need God when life is going smoothly? * Isnt Christianity just a crutch for people who cant handle lifes pressures? * Is heaven real or just "pie in the sky"? * Do Christians have a good answer to evil and suffering? * How does the church explain all its hypocrites? Reason to Believe is no collection of pat answers and proof texts. It addresses each objection in a separate chapter, which includes a special capsule summary that gives the kernel of each argument. This is a superb resource for those in visitation and calling programs, and a must for anyone who wants to do more than scratch the surface of Christian truths.
Dr. R.C. Sproul is the founder and chairman of Ligonier Ministries, an international Christian education ministry located near Orlando, Florida. His teaching can be heard on the program Renewing Your Mind, which is broadcast on hundreds of radio outlets in the United States and in 40 countries worldwide. He is the executive editor of Tabletalk magazine, general editor of The Reformation Study Bible, and the author of more than seventy books and scores of articles for national evangelical publications. Dr. Sproul also serves as president of Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies, and Reformation Bible College in Sanford, Florida. He currently serves as senior minister of preaching and teaching at Saint Andrew's in Sanford, FL.
Kim Casey5 Stars Out Of 5Finally!October 25, 2010Kim CaseyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Although it's been a couple years since I've read this book, I still remember it fondly. I too have given away several copies and always keep 1 copy handy. This book defends christainity with LOGIC and does not end with the lame phrase, "Well, you just have to have faith..." because the believer has not put applied enough brain cells to sound credible. Sproul is actually critical of that phrase stating it has absolutely no value to a non-believer. Statements like that open the door for academic elitists to poke fun at the christains. If you want to use the brain God gave you, then start with this book and begin to understand WHY. Also try the Holiness of God, great for those that have suffered.
Amanda Maher5 Stars Out Of 5April 11, 2008Amanda MaherThis is a very easy to read, easy to share book that addresses the main objections that most people have to Christianity. I have given this book away twice. It is not a burden on a new believer, short and sweet. I love it!
Benjamin W. Waters4 Stars Out Of 5April 8, 2000Benjamin W. WatersThis is an excellent resource. Sproul offers an apologeticshandbook which is at once brief and comprehensive! This book gives clear, thoughtful answers to some of the most common objections to the Christian faith. At 160 pagesthis is perfect for those who have the tendency to get bogged down in larger volumes. Excellent for the new believer.
