Wesley came to the conclusion that real Christians are those whose inward (and outward) lives have been transformed by the bountiful sanctifying grace of God -- what he termed real Christianity--and this he strove to obtain for himself. Real Christianity, as Wesley understood it, embraces both works of piety and mercy, the person and the social.
Mark5 Stars Out Of 5November 9, 2000MarkThis volume is a very readable, very enlightening biography. Collins makes good use of Wesley's numerous letters and published works, and those of his contemporaries, to create a compelling and relevant history of his spiritual development. There are many revealing insights on Wesley's thought and character here, and a clear picture of Wesley the man. As a layperson, I appreciated Collin's easily readable style, and I highly recommend this book.
