Author Bio

John R. W. Stott (1921-2011) has been known worldwide as a preacher, evangelist and communicator of Scripture. For many years he served as rector of All Souls Church in London, where he carried out an effective urban pastoral ministry. A leader among evangelicals in Britain, the United States and around the world, Stott was a principal framer of the landmark Lausanne Covenant (1974). His many books have sold millions of copies around the world and in dozens of languages. Stott's best-known work, has sold two million copies and has been translated into more than 60 languages. Other titles include and a daily devotional. He has also written eight volumes in series of New Testament expositions. Whether in the West or in the Two-Thirds World, a hallmark of Stott's ministry has been expository preaching that addresses the hearts and minds of contemporary men and women. Stott was honored by magazine in 2005 as one of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" and was named in the QueenÂ’s New Years Honours list as Commander of the Order of the British Empire. In 1969, Stott founded the Langham Trust to fund scholarships for young evangelical leaders from the Majority World. He then founded the Evangelical Literature Trust, which provided books for students, pastors and theological libraries in the Majority World. These two trusts continued as independent charities until 2001, when they were joined as a single charity: the Langham Partnership. Langham's vision continues today to see churches in the Majority World equipped for mission and growing to maturity in Christ through nurturing national movements for biblical preaching, fostering the creation and distribution of evangelical literature, and enhancing evangelical theological education. Editorial Reviews

"Stott's guidance is traditional and focuses on fundamental teachings with an attempt to make the sermon's teaching understandable and more personal for modern believers of all ages."
"Nothing would have been more important to John Stott than to get the words of the title in the right order. We are reading the Bible with John Stott, not just reading John Stott on the Bible. For in his preaching as in his writing, John Stott's greatest gift was to help people see and hear clearly what the Bible itself actually says, and then, of course, to challenge us as to how we should respond to what we see and hear. Not all of us possess the complete works of John Stott. But we do possess the complete Bible. These sensitively edited extracts from Stott's writings will not only introduce new readers to the riches of his biblical exposition (and make them hungry for more), but will surely also introduce them to riches of God's word they had not seen before."
"No one I have known has loved, preached, taught and lived the Bible any more than John Stott. He often quoted Spurgeon's comment that we should seek for our very blood to become 'Bibline'; so seriously should we soak in Scripture in order to know and live it. This new series will give us daily help in just such living."
"On every continent, churches and church leaders called Stott 'Uncle John' because he pastored, mentored and loved us. He pointed us to Jesus. He taught us the Scriptures with honesty, clarity and humility. He lived what he taught, and he inspired us to do the same. This book is your chance to be pastored and mentored by Uncle John too."
