From the Read and Share Bible brand, this retelling of the Easter story is explained in a way that helps young children understand the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
The story of Christ's last week is carefully told in a way that teaches children about the amazing gift Jesus gave us. Events include His triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday through His appearance to the disciples and His ascension.
Beverly Wiezorek5 Stars Out Of 5April 16, 2010Beverly WiezorekThis is one of the best Easter books out there. They divide the Easter Story up into smaller segments and they touch on many things from Bible that aren't usually in other books.
Shelley5 Stars Out Of 5March 12, 2010ShelleyThe Story of Easter is a children's book that tells the Easter story from Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem at Passover through His ascension. The book is divided into short two-page sections; each of these is colorfully illustrated and includes a comprehension question to help children think more deeply about the story. The book comes with a short DVD that follows the Biblical account into the the early church period. The book and DVD are suited for preschool and early elementary children. My five-year-old and two-year-old both enjoyed both the book and the DVD, and I appreciated the fact that both the book and DVD contain details of the Biblical account that aren't always found in children's materials. Ellis writes the story in an engaging manner, and I liked how the questions make the children think about what they're hearing. I thought it was a great book!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. The book starts with Jesus sending his disciples to get the donkey He would ride into Jerusalem and goes through to His ascension into heaven. Each section is titled and has the corresponding Scripture references. There is also a question or statement at the end of each section to read to your child to help with discussion. The sections are illustrated and at the end of the book the child can look at two pages with the same illustrations from the story, but mixed up and point to show the correct order of the story. There is also a DVD included titled Six Stories from the Life of Jesus.I thought this was a great book. I would definitely buy it as a gift for children. Im not sure what age this is written for, but I think most children ages 2-8 would enjoy it. I plan to keep this book for my son.http://www.thomasnelson.com/consumer/product_detail.asp?sku=1400314615&title=Read_and_Share:_The_Story_of_Easter&author=Gwen_Ellis
TracyCanadaAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5March 5, 2010TracyCanadaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleI loved the simplicty and straightforwardness (is that even a word? lol) of this book. As someone who works with children I was so excited to review this, and knew that the kids would love it too!The day we got it in the mail the children (I have a day home) I was watching all gathered around once they saw it was a children's book. For the most part the book really kept their attention, and they very much liked looking at the pictures in the book. I found towards the end their attention started to waiver a bit, but then again, the kids were in the 2-3 year old range, so i suspect that the book may have been a little over their heads for the most part. However I loved this book as well, and it'll be keeping a place on the family book shelf for years to come!I highly recommend this especially for people with young children, a great tool in teaching them the Gospel!
