Raising Responsive Children is for both married and single moms and applies to children of any age. Topics include: who God is and what qualifies Him to be the ultimate Parent; the value of His Son's role in the parenting process; familial burdens and sins that only He can break; parenting to each child's God-designed uniqueness; exercising creative discipline such as natural and created consequences; five common challenges moms face in the parenting process; raising responsive young men and women in today's culture; and the power of prayer to get us through the challenges of the growing up years. A free, downloadable Leader's Guide is available at Judy's website: www.eymministries.org.
Judy Rossi began teaching marriage-focused Bible studies in 1986. This experience has shown her tremendous need for women to address their unique roles in their marriages, God's call to speak to that need is presented in her first written work, Enhancing Your marriage: A Woman's Bible Study (AMG). She speaks regularly on the subject of marriage and family at women's retreats and conferences across the country. Judy has a degree in special education, dealing with exceptional children, speech pathology, and audiology. She has been married for thirty years and has two grown daughters, Dana and Leslie. Judy and her husband, John, a retired U.S.Army Colonel, live in Fairfax Station, Virginia.

It is comprehensive, focussing on learning how God the Father parents us to provide a model for how we should parent the children He has given us. It is far from "one size fits all" parenting. Each child is unique and the ways we parent them reflect that uniqueness--the author teaches us how to observe them and adjust our parenting to fit our own family situations. Thank you, Judy Rossi!
Petra5 Stars Out Of 5What does God say about parenting?July 10, 2012PetraI had the privilege of leading a group of ladies through Raising Responsive Children this past year.
We were a group of moms with children's ages ranging from infancy to teenage years.
The study truly is written for moms with children of all ages. Some weeks you may be able to encourage someone else because you've "been there" other weeks you may be the one needing advice.
The application aspect of the study works really well. We all had so much to share about what we were learning.
In order to be able to take the necessary time to dig into God's word and have time to discuss in class, we extended the study over 24 weeks.
We get so much advice from "the world" on parenting. What does God say?
This is what this study is all about. It takes you through God's word. Every day you go through different bible passages to discover His truth. What is His will for us, for our parenting and for our children?
Be open and let Him show you.
I love that the first part of the study takes in depths look at our Ultimate Father, Christ His Son and our relationship with Him. This takes the focus off our children and how we can "fix them". Rather it is all about our heart as a child of God, a wife and mother. It is about finding what God calls US to do, and through that we learn how to parent the children He placed in our homes.
This study has had a huge impact on my life, my marriage in my parenting.
Some of the main points the ladies in our small group took away from this:
- How to respond and not react
- Parent according to the Lord
- Slow to speak, quick to listen, slow to anger
- How to align parenting with Gods will
- Use Gods word in every situation
- Allowing God to parent through me, seeking His will
- True parenting is grounded in a relationship with the Lord and His word
Momsclubleader1 Stars Out Of 5Not As Great As Reviews SayMay 10, 2012MomsclubleaderI lead a moms group of 15 ladies and we decided to go this Bible study based on the top reviews from this website. This book was HUGE (like a text book) and was 250 pages. I found it extremely difficult to keep the moms engaged in the study as it was a lot of work (scripture look-up and reflection) and a lot of reading. Also, moms didn't have room in their diaper bags to pack such a large book and often left the books at home on our discussions days.
Pam Sanders5 Stars Out Of 5June 23, 2010Pam SandersI wished I'd had this study 30 years ago when our kids came along! Judy walks you through several exercises that help you study your children - their personalities, their specific "bent". Knowing that each child is different is so important - you parent each one differently because they ARE different! What works with one doesn't work with another. Learning how to "be the parent", to establish boundaries, learning how to RESPOND instead of REACT, observing the difference between boys and girls are all crucial elements of this study. Whether your children are in diapers or driving to school, you will find help, hope and encouragement for the challenging journey of raising responsive children - ultimately responsive to God!
Midge5 Stars Out Of 5June 22, 2010MidgeRaising Responsive Children is so much more than a how-to book for raising children. The focus of Mrs. Rossis book is not how to produce perfect children, but rather how to change your heart as a parent. The main point I took away from this study was how to respond to my children in a Godly manner with forethought, rather than merely reacting to each situation as it arose. My children range from ages 2 to 17, and I was amazed at how the things I learned in this book were applicable to children and teens of all ages. Full of scripture, sound Biblical advice, and practical and poignant stories, this study is one I will continue to refer to for years to come. I highly recommend this study to any parent.

Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a wife of 38 years, a mother of two and grandmother of 4. A Christian for 30 years, I have worked with women in their marriages and in their mothering as a teacher, encourager, and biblical counselor for over two decades.
What was your motivation behind this project? I learned first hand that mothering isn't for wimps! The Lord brought me to and through many challenges as a mom, challenges that so many other moms face today. Raising Responsive Children is designed to show them that God's way works, and as we follow Him in our parenting, He won't disappoint us.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Raising Responsive Children is a rigorous workbook intended to teach and equip a mom for a job that will last for the rest of her life. It is designed to be a 12 or 24-week Bible study for all moms of children of any age. It is a workbook that offers indepth Bible study coupled with reflective application. In this way, the reader gains the most of whatever change God desires to make in her life and in her mothering.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Judy's website provides a free and downloadable Leader's Guide for Raising Responsive Children. It contains the breakdown for both a 12-week or 24-week (September to May) schedule for women's ministries,as well as many other suggestions for teachers or facilitators.
