Jane Rumph5 Stars Out Of 5September 8, 2009Jane RumphSharon Norris Elliott's book Raising Boys to be Like Jesus is probably the most practical, insightful, and biblically-based book on raising boys since Dr. Dobson. It has proved transformative in the life of my sister, a single mom, and her nine-year-old son. The book, with its "Step Aside" sections for personal application, has opened her eyes to the many ways children's lives are shaped by the simple choices we make. She is now motivated to reshape her parenting approach to one that will better guide her son into becoming a man of God. If you desire to raise your son in His image, this book will show you how.

Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a Christian, a wife, a mom, an educator, an author, and a speaker. In general, I am an encourager interested in seeing others live significantly for Christ.
What was your motivation behind this project? From the time of their birth, I wanted my sons to reach their highest potential. I realized they'd never do that without being first dedicated to God. If God could trust them, I could trust them. God presented Himself to us in Jesus Christ who lived as the perfect man before us. I could find no better example for my sons to emulate but Him; thus, my goal to raise them to be like Christ.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope my readers will understand that raising a generation of young men who honor God is our best bet for a future society that continues to honor God as well. Jesus did everything right because He was totally dependent upon His Father. Our boys will see success in their personal lives, families, and careers only as they live as men of God - men who live as Jesus lived.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My influences are my father, Rev. Dr. Vincent Norris; husband, James Elliott; and sons, Jerod, Matthew, and Mark. These are the best men on the planet. My dad and husband are examples of what good Christian men and fathers should be, and my sons are living testimonies of what God can do for young men in our current society.
