Pam BurkePotosi, MOAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Race for SurvivalApril 3, 2017Pam BurkePotosi, MOAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Raging Storm is Vannetta Chapman's second chapter of her Remnant series, a rather frightening look at an all too realistic possibility in our technology reliant world.
This story picks up right where the first left off with characters doing their best to survive in a situation where survival is questionable at best. The interactions between the main characters and those who are introduced in the second book bring even more life and interest to the story. Vannetta develops diverse scenarios and characters to add multiple levels of intrigue to her story, all of which kept me highly engaged as a reader.
Fans of great fiction should enjoy Raging Storm, especially those with any interest in the dystopian genre. Reading this series in order is important to follow the story line. The author left a perfect set-up for the next installment, Light of Dawn, due to be released later this year. She also has written a prequel, available in the form of a free ebook novella, Overshadowed.
Britney Adams5 Stars Out Of 5Raging StormMarch 20, 2017Britney AdamsQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Raging Storm is a chilling tale! Action-packed and terrifying at every turn, I was completely absorbed in Shelby and Max's search for supplies, as well as what was happening in the community they left behind. Spellbound, I frantically turned the pages to find out what would happen next. Well within the realm of possibility, thoughts of this story continue to linger in my mind as I anxiously await the next installment!
The Remnant Series is one I highly recommend reading in order. The prequel novella, Overshadowed, sets the stage for the catastrophic events that occur and subsequent novels continue the dramatic devastation that ensues.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. No review was required, and all thoughts expressed are my own.
Just Commonly5 Stars Out Of 5Suspenseful and a great sequel that you can't wait for book 3!March 13, 2017Just CommonlyQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0In Raging Storm, we continue to invest ourselves with the characters, Shelby, Max, Carter and friends. We see two stories enfolding, and as the author take us to look at the wider picture: when chaos breaks out, when the government institution is holding on by a thread, and when there is the type of evil out there that is very real, that's when we find the reality of it all set in. It can happen, and how can you live with that kind of fear? How can you survive with fear knocking on your door every step of the way? What and WHO can give you courage? What principles can you hold onto? What is faith? Raging Storm sets your heart in motion page by page, scene by scene, almost like you can visualize it play out in front of you. It beats and tense and then wham, you hit the end. That ending, I wish it could've soften the blow a bit. A cliffhanger indeed.
The Remnant series is meant to be read as a series, and though you do get some background, I would suggest reading the series in order. It's dystopian filled with suspense that you can't wait for the next book to be out.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. This is my honest opinion.
Rhonda Nash-hallMadison Heights VAAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5NOt for meMarch 10, 2017Rhonda Nash-hallMadison Heights VAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5First, let me state that I am a huge fan of Vannetta Chapman's writing. I feel that she spends a great deal of time in research and stretches the imagination. I have always enjoyed dystopian novels, but this one fell short for me. It pains me to say this because I don't like to be critical. I think that, for this particular series, it is extremely important to read the first book in the series. I did not read that first book and I was confused and found it very difficult to get interested in the book until the very last quarter of the book.
The writing was impeccable as always with Vannetta's books. I think that many readers, especially those who have read the first book in series, will find this book very enjoyable.
I am giving this book a rating of 4 stars and I do recommend it to those who have already read the first book in the series. Of course, I always feel that no matter what others have rated a book, everyone makes their own choice. In fact, for me, when a great number of readers are negative about a book, I like to read it to see if I agree!
I was given a copy of this book by netgalley and I was not required to write a review and I was not required for any review written be positive.
Sarah OCaliforniaAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5This book holds nothing back and will keep you on the edge of your seatMarch 9, 2017Sarah OCaliforniaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When a solar flare hits the country people are left scrambling some die some turn evil and some are just fearful of the unknown. As the four friends head out to find medicine for the people in their town and for Shelbys some they are faced with some trials and things you just can't ever unsee or ever want to see again. Can they get where they need to be and get where they need to save Shelby's son before it's to late?
I will start off saying I did not read the first book so I didn't realize this was a series. That being said it wasn't hard to catch on what was going down. There were twist and turns throughout this whole book and it left you on the edge of your seat, there were also parts in the book that were predictable but those were few and far between. The book was a good clean read throughout this book does have an "end times" feel to it however the author kept it like it was in current times and that it could really happen. The end of the book does end in a cliff hanger and you are left wanting so much more in that sense you want to know whats happening next. This book was a really good read and I can only imagine what the author is going to throw in next that will keep you on the edge of your seat. GRAB this book you won't regret it.
