Ron ministers to prisoners with the message that God brings peace to the place of conflict. Read the story of how these radical believers in Prisoner Fellowship International dare to make a difference in a broken world through the example of Jesus' suffering without retaliation.
I found myself increasingly captivated by the examples of men and women who, even amid extreme difficulty and danger, followed Jesus in the way of justice, mercy, and truth regardless of personal cost and threat of opposition Ron Nikkel
Ron sees life through God's eyes and writes elegantly. Chuck Colson
I have known Ron Nikkel as a friend and ministry companion for thirty years and I marvel at his service Philip Yancey
The importance of "being" the good news and avoiding judgments is where Nikkel begins. He continues by discussing hope and living justly, mercifully, and humbly (Micah 6:8). The book is a compilation of devotions that are sectioned into six parts according to specific themes. As the president of Prison Fellowship International, Nikkel has a lot of experience in loving folks who feel broken and abandoned. He has spent years listening to their stories.
Radical Love in a Broken World expounds upon the idea of Ephesians 5:1: "Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love." Christians should be active in loving others and caring for their needs. Nikkel says, "To be a Christian is to follow in the way of Jesus, learning to think and speak and act like Him, not literally, but in the radical way of loving and caring for people as He did." He dares us to make a difference in the lives of others and, as Christians, live visibly different from unbelievers.
The book is well-written and engaging and it explains many topics that would benefit Christians who desire to have a more hands-on approach to reaching the lost for Christ. It had a solid biblical focus, and it challenges the reader to act upon the Word. I recommend it to an adult Christian audience, either for private analysis or group study. - Tara Gnagy, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
