Author/Artist Review

Author: Theo Makombe
Located in: Greenville Ohio
Submitted: October 27, 2014

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am Theo Makombe, born and raised in Rwanda, East Africa. I have lived most of my life in my country where Genocide took place and watched it from the beginning to the end. I believe the struggle we go through can only prove how strong we are as long as we are through. I live in USA, Greenville Ohio. I love to travel inspiring people to uproot any kind of violence. I learned from my past that life is better lived if it's shared.

What was your motivation behind this project?  Writing this book, I was motivated by struggles of other people. And also the discovery of the meaning behind my mom' last speech to me right before she was killed. "keep running and never give up"

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope people find encouragement to keep their heads above the water. Because No one can succeed without struggles if not many failures.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I was greatly impacted by my own memories which I have been hiding for years. Writing this book brought me out of my cage and gave me freedom to live without a wounded heart. It helped me heal from my past and helped me plan my future.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I was inspired by my fellow Christians who prayed for me and believed in me when I couldn't believe in myself. I am mostly inspired by observing life everywhere I travel. my whole life is unending school.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  We are living in the world of a lot of knowledge and I believe in education. But I clearly understand that Education without inspiration has mostly led many to destruction. Genocide was not prepared by uneducated people and it isn't the only violence commuted by intellectual world. It's only another level of destruction, but all kinds of violence we face can lead to Genocide and need to be stopped from beginning. It's Everyone' responsibility to stand against any violence. If our center is Jesus Christ everything is possible.
