Rachel5 Stars Out Of 5Good for navigating loss, change, big feelings and unmet expectationsAugust 13, 2019RachelQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5was given a review copy of this book from the publisher, and I'm very glad I did! This is a wonderful book to help children navigate through loss, change, big feelings, and/or unmet expectations! One of my daughter's good friends moved away, and she didn't understand why God would do that. This book helped cultivate good conversation about it. The book talks about feeling sad when we have to say goodbye to someone. It reminds the reader that God never stops being our friend and He loves us!! I like also after the main character Quinn talks to God about her feelings the author uses the sentence "As she talked to God, it felt like he was hugging her heart..." That sentence is great for teaching children how God loves them and will help them during those hard times! Ontop of the wonderful words and teaching points in this book, the illustrations are beautiful and teach about Fireflies.
smwalck5 Stars Out Of 5Super cute and so goodAugust 9, 2019smwalckQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Quinn is back with another important story - loss! It is so sweet and caring. We've experienced my father's death recently - unfortunately it's not the first loss for my almost 8 year old twins. This book was greatly anticipated and has been a big help in my boys' understanding that God is always good and loves us despite the hardships and loss.
StephT5 Stars Out Of 5Sweet book with a great messageAugust 9, 2019StephTQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Quinn Says Goodbye is a beautiful book with a great message. The pictures are sweet and engaging for kids of all ages. As a parent of young kids I love that Christie Thomas approaches the subject of loss very gently. Parents can read the book to their kids and decide how to approach the topic of loss when they are done, they can be the ones to guide the conversation as they see fit and necessary. I recommend this book for parents who need to explain loss of any kind...moving, life changes, death of a family member, friend, or pet. Kids will finish the book understanding that no matter what happens in life, God is always consistent and loving.

Nskye5 Stars Out Of 5Special Book on Loss for kidsAugust 9, 2019NskyeQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I loved how well this was written! Beautiful illustrations as well. I'd highly recommend for young children learning about loss. This loss can be almost anything because of how the writer portrays "Blink" disappearing. This could be applicable to the loss of a loved one, a pet, a favorite toy, but also when people leave our lives for different circumstances i.e. fostering. I really loved this aspect of it, and think it's a great simple resource to teach small children how to handle loss in their lives.
