David5 Stars Out Of 5NIrV Kids' Quest Study BibleSeptember 16, 2016DavidQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Excellent edition for elementary-aged children. I have used this Bible when giving devotionals, many times having volunteers from the group read the targeted verses. It follows the paraphrasing of the NIV, using words in children's aural and visual vocabularies. (Even some adults have said they like the wording for themselves.) Illustrations and study questions make it very suitable for individual use.
Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMJuly 12, 2016FitzysmomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Kids and questions just seem to go hand in hand. Being curious and asking questions is a natural part of learning. It's a good thing and one that we all want to encourage in our kids. But what do you do with all of those questions?
One way to handle them is to just answer the question outright. Another way is to show our children how to find the answers for themselves. I personally like the second option. Teaching children how to research an answer gives them lifelong skills that will give them sound discernment especially if they are researching from a trusted resource.
I believe that trusted source for answers is the Bible. The new Kids' Quest Study Bible is great for those curious minded kiddos. Throughout the book there are real questions from kids with follow-up commentary and Scripture references that allow the child to read and research for themselves the correct answer.
This Bible uses the NIrV translation which is targeted at a third-grade reading level. I like this because it allows younger children that have yet to acquire advanced reading skills to understand what they are reading. This particular translation is also great for those who use English as their second language.
If you are looking for a Bible for one of your children you certainly can't go wrong with this particular edition.
I received a copy of this Bible to facilitate my review.
Cris5 Stars Out Of 5Bible study with children gets more interestingMay 11, 2016CrisQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This one comes in hardcover with an interesting cover design because it doesn't look like any traditional covers of Bible-related resources.
The cover looks like a trivia book; the kind that young learners consult for questions under the general knowledge category. This book provides answers to over 500 questions about the Bible.
It presents the book from the Old Testament and the New Testament in child-friendly language. I love that the inside pages are in red and blue font. It deviates from the regular black text and is successful in doing so as it provides a different look to the entire book.
Every book in the Old and New Testaments are introduced before the start of the very first verse.
Many of these questions are also asked by adults like you and me so if you find yourself without answers to some questions, this book may give you the answer(s) you've been looking for.
I love how the questions are straightforward and direct. The answers are short and concise with reference to a Bible verse and replete with fun illustrations like the one below:
I remember being part of a four-student team to participate in a Bible Quiz Bee during my high school days. I've spent a lot of time reading the Bible and cramming names of people, events and happenings, and verses and chapters in my brain weeks prior to the Quiz Bee. Study time would have been more efficient if this was out around that time (the year 1999).

Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5One of the best children's Bibles for kids in grades 3 through 8 ...May 3, 2016Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Originally published in 2005, The Kids Quest Study Bible remains one of the better choices for 3rd through 8th graders wanting a deeper understanding of scripture than given by the standard childrens Bible. The Bible text is in blue type; notes and sidebars are presented in various shades of blue and orange. The translation used is an easy reader version of the NIV called the New International Readers Version (NIrV). This translation is suitable for both young readers and for any person learning English (e.g. students of English as a Second Language).
Notes are presented as questions. Brief answers are given, including suggested Bible references for further study. Though designed for children, the questions and answers may be of help to new believers of all ages.
A variety of additional helps are also included. Each book opens with a series of questions introduce the book. For example, Obadiah opens with the following four questions:
1. Who wrote this book?
2. Why was this book written?
3. What do we learn about God in this book?
4. When was this book written?
Each book ends with a Quest Clue or a Quest Challenge to encourage the reader to study or think deeper about the book. These will be particularly helpful for the older child or reader.
I will be pleased to donate my review copy to the Nepalese ministry associated with my local church. I expect that it will be given to a child associated with that ministry, but could just as well be used by an adult or family that is unfamiliar with all of the nuances of the English language.
This review is based on a free copy provided by the publisher for the purpose of creating this review. The opinions expressed are my own.
