A few of you may want to immediately dismiss this book as right-wing propaganda from a Bible-thumper. But if you're one who advocates "equality" and "tolerance", then practice what you preach by reading "A Queer Thing" with an open mind before writing a critique about it. Dr. Brown begins this book by examining the history of the gay liberation movement and how corporations and individuals have been bullied into embracing "diversity." (30% of the pages are made up of endnotes to validate his research.) Logic and reason are used to point out fallacies in the arguments used to support same-sex marriage and other GLBT causes. No Bible verses are mentioned at all until Chapter 10 when Dr. Brown analyzes Scripture used by "queer theologians" to justify their behavior. The book concludes with a compassionate exhortation to "reach out and resist" when relating to GLBT individuals.

"A Queer Thing" is a must read especially for parents with children in public schools!

The gay life is a search for understanding and acceptance, by means of a path that societies have rejected for thousands of years. The modern gay rights movement insists that homosexual behavior is "the ultimate freedom" and that "society has no right to tell us who to love."

But many people outside of the gay activist movement do not understand its foundational principles. As explained following the Stonewall "riots", the principal goal of gay militancy was to achieve the "right" to have unlimited, unrestricted sexual activity anytime, anywhere, with anyone-- nothing more, nothing less.

Yet we have seen that one by one, "barriers" or social norms are broken down by gay activists-- yet nothing ever seems to completely satisfy this longing for acceptance. No matter how much they gain, nothing is ever enough.

The movement also appears to disguise its aims. We are told that it's all about "love" and "equality", and that "marriage has been redefined throughout the centuries." And in their angry and militant posturing, gay activists and their supporters often make it difficult to love them as we, the followers of Jesus, are called to love our brothers and sisters.

Dr. Brown is not afraid to confront the gay political movement's demand that we must accept its social doctrine purely on faith-- or else be scapegoated as "hateful". This book helps the reader understand many of the claims the movement makes, and their implications for and potential impacts on civil society. I found the book to be a thorough treatment, painstakingly researched, of a social movement that demands recognition and unconditional support, regardless of the inevitable costs to the moral and cultural foundations of the world that God created.

My name is James White. A decade ago I wrote a book with Jeff Niell titled The Same Sex Controversy (Bethany House Publishers). I have engaged in formal debate on the topic of homosexuality and the Bible with men like Barry Lynn (Americans for the Separation of Church and State) and Bishop John Shelby Spong (The Sins of Scripture). I am very familiar with the issues relating to the Bible and homosexuality.

But when I read Michael Brown's book, I was blown away by the developments that have taken place just in the past ten years. This is a thoroughly researched and documented book. Dr. Brown has drawn from an astonishingly wide array of sources, and yet has kept the discussion clear and understandable. I was tremendously impressed with his restraint and fairness.

Of course, those who oppose God's truth on this issue are doing all in their power to dissuade people from reading this powerful book. I have seen reviews all over that are barely connected to reality, all clearly written with an agenda in mind.

Take my advice and not only get this book for yourself, but for your pastors and elders as well. It is a must read.

Having read only half of the book (which may disqualify any of this review) i am staggered by the depth of scholarly primary sources. As i read I'm continually going to the sources and asking, "Is this really true and really happening?"

This book must serve as a wakeup call to the American church, to the true Christian, to open their front door and say, "I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly" (Genesis 19:7).

I have recommended this book to friends and will continue doing so. The church is largely sleeping and saying, "Don't wake me up!" This book is a needed wakeup call to the perniciousness that is about us. Truly these are the days and the situations in which men will kill and think they are offering service to God.

Thank you, Dr. Brown for writing it and standing on the convictions of Scripture. I plan on writing a better review after completing the book.

This is one of the, if not THE, most important book on the subject.

The reason it is so important has to do with the fact that Dr. Brown not just talks about homosexuality (after all you can set the record straight about the matter in less than 5 pages, specifically with reference to Romans 1), but he intelligently yet compassionately exposes the political game and existence of clever social agenda to overturn fundamental concept of marriage and twist and confuse human sexuality.... in media, on university campuses, in corporate America, and even in Church...

The agenda REALLY exists, it is powered by multi-million organizations who work full time to (a) confuse secular culture with homosexual agenda, and in turn (b) confuse and infiltrate the Church too. Our (Christian) gullible brothers and sisters ALREADY jumped on the bandwagon of homosexual agenda, as seen with publications by OUR (Christian and Evangelical) publishers books such as "Love Is an Orientation: Elevating the Conversation with the Gay Community" by Andrew Marin ... available here on ChristianBook.com.

Look, secular culture simply slaughters Christian community of the 21st century. Some say 75% or 85% of kids stepping into secular educational institutions will turn away from their Christian faith. That problem requires serious attention, but PLEASE do not be naive and gullible in yet another aspect in which secular ideologies infiltrate the Church and please study the subject, and study it with one of the best books exposing that - this book!

Yes Jesus said that we are sent as sheep among the wolves, but He also commanded to be wise as serpents. Let's be wise, and let's not just walk into the snares of what secular culture prepared for us...
