She is flying on a plane when they encounter some turbulence. The woman in the seat next to Nikki strikes up a conversation and tells Nikki she is afraid. Before they can continue their conversation, more turbulence strikes and it is discovered that the man next to this woman is dead, then the plane takes a nose dive. After getting off the plane, Nikki notices that the woman has accidentally left her watch in her seat. Nikki tries to find her to return it, but doesnt see her. She asks for her name of a flight attendant and told that no one was sitting in that seat. There is no record of the woman being on the plane. A mystery begins that will take Nikki on a harrowing journey in the next 24-48 hours.
In addition to this, Nikki is to meet Tyler at the airport. He has returned from overseas just a few days ago after a 3-month contract job. He has a new job offer in Tennessee, but he and Nikki havent had a chance to talk about a relationship or the future. With this new case of a missing person, Nikki is whisked out of the airport and taken directly to her office to begin the search for the missing woman as Nikki discovers she was supposed to testify at a trial that would have resulted in a famous philanthropist going to jail. With the search on, Nikki is under pressure to find the woman as well as deal with a personal health issue that might affect her future relationship with Tyler. How will she survive the next couple of days? You will have to read this exciting tale to find out!
Whew! Talk about nonstop action!! This book starts with a plane crash and never lets up on the adrenaline scale. Special Agent Nikki Boyd endures more chaos in her life in the span of 48 hours than anyone can shake a stick at! She has professional trauma as well as personal drama. It is a good thing she is a Christian or I dont know how she would keep her sanity. If you like action, then you will certainly enjoy this very entertaining story from the pen of Lisa Harris. Nikki and Tyler make an adorable couple and I am so glad that they are pursuing a relationship together. I have liked her determination to continue investigating her sisters disappearance for over ten years. I hope more is revealed in the next book, Vanishing Point, about this ongoing mystery. This fourth book in the series is due to be released in November 2017 and I cant wait!
Britney Adams4 Stars Out Of 5PursuedMay 16, 2017Britney AdamsQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Pursued is an action-packed suspense! I am a fan of this exciting series and always enjoy the race against the clock that Nikki faces. While the suspense thread stands alone, the characters and their story lines continue to grow and develop. Along with the urgency of the missing persons case, I enjoyed the progression of Nikki's relationship with Tyler and look forward to the next Nikki Boyd novel.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. No review was required, and all thoughts expressed are my own.
daleenc4 Stars Out Of 5Fun Read!May 16, 2017daleencQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I loved the plotline... searching, searching, grasping, and finally, the thriller ending. I thought it was interesting the way that Harris strategically laid the evidence, making it stretch until the very last chapter. I loved that. Erika, my friends, is a very hard person to find. And Lily is even harder to find.
The characters were personable and interesting. I liked learning more about them through this book. Nikki was driven, her team was fun, and the bad guys... well they were motivated. Quite interestingly motivated, lol. But that only made it fun.
Her relationship... well, I've begun to see more of these. A friend or sibling dies, and then one of the characters falls for their widow(er). The relationships always set me off a little bit, mostly because I'm not sure how I would do that. Obviously I love my siblings and friends, but then somehow I get over their deaths and marry the person they loved? I'm not sure I could do that without seeing them in their spouse... but, I mean, the book characters seem to be doing it fine, so... I don't know.
I liked the way the story started, and the ending was slightly sad, but also heartwarming. I think it'll be a good read for any sort of day. If you ever get a chance to pick it up at your library... be sure to do so! I don't think you'll be disappointed.
KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A compulsive read!May 9, 2017KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5You'll need a full line-up of oxygen tanks before you get started on this third book in The Nikki Boyd Files. And while part of a series, Pursued can be read as a standalone. Each book has a unique suspense thread though there is a continuous love story developing as well as an over-arcing suspense thread (Nikki's search for her missing sister) that flows through all the books.
Pursued starts off with, well, a plane crash! The plane that Nikki just happens to be traveling on! And the action and danger doesn't let up from that first chapter. Because Nikki being Nikki can't help but notice there is something 'off' about her seat mate and when she can't find her after the crash all her finely honed detective skills go into spidey overdrive. Her team pairs up with the FBI and the chase is on to find a key witness before the bad guys (of which there are plenty) do.
I've said this in my reviews of the first two books -- this series reminds me of the 90s series, Without A Trace. It has the same kind of frantic pace as the team works time-sensitive missing persons cases. Intensity is relieved by wise-cracking quips and teasing banter. And readers walk through all the police procedure of an ongoing investigation right along with the characters. Compelling stuff that makes this one compulsive read.
