The Purpose Driven Life Devotional for Kids includes 365 devotions that tie to the themes and ideas found in the bestselling The Purpose Driven Life by pastor Rick Warren. Written especially for children ages 8 and up, and featuring a ribbon marker, each devo includes a Scripture, short message, and prayer or thought for the day to help kids discover who they are in Gods eyes. Capturing the hearts of the new generation means ensuring they know their purpose and grow up confident of their value in God and their relationship to Christ.
God created each of his children with a purpose in mind … the time is now to, thoughtfully and prayerfully, start the incredible journey to finding that reason.
As founding pastor of Saddleback Church with his wife, Kay, Dr. Rick Warren leads a 30,000-member congregation in California with campuses in major cities around the world. As an author, his book The Purpose Driven Life has been called the bestselling non-fiction hardback in publishing history by Publishers Weekly, having sold more than 33 million copies. As a theologian, he has lectured at Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, University of Judaism, and dozens of universities and seminaries. As a global strategist he advises world leaders and has spoken to the United Nations, US Congress, Davos Economic Forum, TED, Aspen Institute, and numerous parliaments. Rick has also founded the Global PEACE Plan, which Plants churches of reconciliation, Equips leaders, Assists the poor, Cares for the sick, and Educates the next generation in 196 countries. Great quality, hard-back book with practical daily readings for children.

It is a hardback so it is quite durable. Each day's devotion starts with a passage of Scripture and ends with a prayer. There's an attached ribbon which allows you to keep your place. And my favorite part? Each devotion is a page or less, perfect for little minds which tends to wander.
I love that the book is set up in the format of a daily devotional, meaning it is in bite sized chunks where each devotion is barely a page long. Long enough to get across knowledge, short enough not to bore children. I also like that the pages are not dated, which means we can pick up the book at any day of the year and start in from the first page if we wanted. We have a hardback copy, which I think is absolutely necessary in a house full of tiny hands.
I definitely recommend this to parents with curious readers who want to deepen their relationship with God. I recommend this to parents who want a devotional they can read over breakfast or dinner with the kiddos. A great addition to the family library. And definitely get the hardback so it lasts several years (a definite plus with three soon to be four children in this house ranging from 8 years old to 18 months old and a newborn coming in the spring).
Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMOctober 28, 2015FitzysmomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Way back in 2002 our whole church body from the youth group to the senior adults spent 40 days studying The Purpose Driven Life. All these years later the truths that I learned still resonate within me. At the time I only had teenagers and above and they were participating in the study so I didn't give much thought to the little ones.
Now I have eight grands and I want them to learn the same principles that we did all those years ago. I want them to know that they were created for a purpose. Their existence was never a mistake but rather a God ordained blessing bestowed upon their parents (and their grandparents!).
When The Purpose Driven Life Devotional for Kids arrived at my home I was thrilled to be able to share it with my kids and grands. The book is broken down into 365 daily devotions that cover the same six purposes in the original book. The language is designed for nine to twelve year-olds but we are finding that the younger kids are doing well with listening in.
I have to tell you about one other thing that caught my eye. The very last chapter is entitled Why So Many Translations? Of course I had to flip back there and read it. Pastor Rick gave three reasons to answer that question but it is the second one that really stood out to me:
"Second, and even more important, is the fact that we often miss the full impact or meaning of familiar Bible verses, not because of poor translating, but simply because they become so familiar! We think we know the message of a verse because we have read or heard it so many times. Then we find it quoted in a book, we skim over it, and miss the full meaning." (pg. 382)
Isn't that the truth! In my personal studies I like to look things up in different translations so I was pleased to see this same technique employed in this book.
As I said before The Purpose Driven Life made such an impact on my life. If you are looking for a way to impart these same principles into your children's lives I highly recommend this book. Not only will you be teaching your children how important they are in God's eyes but you will be reminding yourself of that truth as well.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
