CarrieMichiganAge: 25-34Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5A valuable re-readJanuary 29, 2016CarrieMichiganAge: 25-34Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I read Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Life in college -- about 10 years ago -- when the church I was going to at the time did a series on it. We had weekly sermons and small group studies all discussing it. And I don't remember a single bit of it. So when the book was re-released, I thought it would be a good chance to read it again.
I like non-fiction books that break their overall idea down into a handful of smaller points, and in the case of this book there are five purposes -- worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and mission. Each point is broken down further as the short, devotional-like chapters get you thinking about how those purposes fit in your personal life as well as in the world around you.
This is one of those books that is good to re-read every few years. Different parts will stick out to you at different times of your life, depending on your current circumstances. And we all need reminders about how God created us FOR HIM and His glory, not for anything we might think important about ourselves. It's humbling, yet encouraging at the same time.
"Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness." Psalm 115:1

It deals with issues at the core of all human existence and from the day I started reading up until now in Day 32, my life has being steering in the right course. I now view life on earth with eternity in mind. Something I never was conscious about before. I am also sharing with as many people I know about the book and how much it is blessing my life . I also bought a copy for my Sister and her husband and look forward to opportunities in impacting as many lives as possible with the information am getting from the book.

I was really excited as I had never read this book, and my church had just completed a church-wide small group Bible Study by Rick Warren. The content is virtually the same, but it offers some new twists for today's technologically savvy generations. Each chapter has a QR code that will take the reader to a video introduction and an audio Bible Study to be done at the end of the chapter. There are also two new chapters addressing the most common barriers to a purpose driven life. The reader can also connect to other readers through access to an online community, where you can discuss your journey and receive feedback and support. I confess, I did not try the QR codes for all 42 chapters, but for the chapters I did try, everything seemed to work just fine and the recordings were clear and easy to understand. I will also say that reading a book for review purposes and reading it for an actual personal study experience are two separate things. When you're reading for review purposes, it is easy to read straight through areas that would normally speak to you and not let the words sink in and register within your spirit. I have put this on my list for my devotion rotation so I can go back through it looking for the truth God wants to share.I would encourage those looking for a direction in their lives to read this book with an open mind. It's written in such a way that anyone will get direction from it whether they are in high school, college, middle age, or retired.

It was an incredible feeling and I loved every part of that book, reading it several times over the course of the next couple of years.
It's been 10 years since The Purpose Driven Life was published and it's being re-released for the anniversary in a beautiful hardcover edition. This new edition has two added chapters. There's also web links and access to an 30 minute audio message from the author, which was great to listen to.
