Craig Broyles examines the Psalms as a diverse collection of poems whose main roots are in Jerusalem's worship services. Both in the past and in the present, they provide dynamic liturgies though which the worshipper encounters God--often with vigorous dialogue--and finds meaning for life. Broyles makes the best of contemporary scholarship on the Psalms accessible to both general readers and serious students.
Craig C. Broyles is associate professor of religious studies at Trinity Western University, Canada. He is author of The Conflict of Faith and Experience: A Form-Critical and Theological Study of Selected Lament Psalms and coeditor of Writing and Reading the Scroll of Isaiah: Studies of an Interpretive Tradition.

dolly4 Stars Out Of 5psalms e-bookMarch 8, 2013dollyMeets Expectations: 4my real complaint is that when I purchased this and the MacArthur study Guide I bought them so i could download to my Kindle Fire and then found out I could not do that. There was so much info on how to purchase a Kindle on the same page that I assumed wrongly I guess I would be able to download onto my Kindle Fire. downloaded them to laptop instead.

I have been greatly blessed by the insite that Craig Broyles brings to the text. His knowledge of the original language has truly made a huge differance in my understanding of the Psalms. I highly recommend this book for those who want to mediate on His Word (Psalms 1.1-2).
RICHARD HOLTClovis, NMAge: 45-54Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5A Great ValueApril 23, 2011RICHARD HOLTClovis, NMAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Broyles writes well. This commentary has several important strengths. It comments on each and every Psalm. It has more information on each Psalm than most of the devotional writings on this Biblical book. It also avoids getting bogged down in too much minutia. In other words it is concise enough to be contained within one volume, but detailed enough to lend help where it is most needed. The comments themselves are generally very helpful.
