Colleen Coble has absolutely done it again with this book! In book one of the Sanctuary Series, Paradise, a veterinarian, returned to her hometown of Nova Cambridge, faced and overcame her fears after a big cat attack, and rekindled her romance with her childhood sweetheart, Blake, all while also working to remember what she could about the night that her parents were killed. In book 2, Paradise has opened her own veterinary practice in town and is still helping out as a big animal veterinarian at the animal sanctuary owned by Blake's mother. The book starts right off at a frantic pace, when an animal keeper is found in an enclosure, killed by a tiger...or was she? More cryptic messages continue to turn up, related to Paradise's traumatic past and it becomes a race against time not only to keep Paradise safe from whoever is threatening her, but also to keep the Sanctuary our of the wrong hands. This book kept me on the edge of my seat through many twists and turns as Blake and Paradise navigate trying to figure out who is sabotaging the Sanctuary and why, as well as building a new relationship. I also love that this novel gave us just a glimpse into the mystery hinted at in book one : what happened to Paradise's parents, who were murdered many years prior. We got a taste of that mystery as well as a long lost half brother, but it certainly left me anxiously looking forward to the third installment in this series. I HIGHLY recommend giving this book a read as well as book one, Ambush. Colleen Coble's books never disappoint if you love suspense, mystery and a bit of romance, all in a clean package.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson for an advance reader copy of this book via NetGalley to review. All enthusiastic opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own.

"She had worked here for two weeks, but it felt like two years with the stink of the animals and the hard work involved. But if she had any hope of paying off her gambling debt, she needed the extra cash, and this job had seemed an easy way to earn a little. At least it had seemed like it at the time. Now that she was here, Ivy wasn't enjoying the work or the animals. The smell got to her, and so did the fear of them."

The Sanctuary wildlife refuge is meant to be a safe place for animals, but it certainly does not seem to be that way for people. Blake Lawson and his mom and brothers are fighting to keep hold of the property. Veterinarian Paradise Alden is trying to find pieces of her past. She loves Blake and his family, but she is compelled to find answers before she can move forward.

This is a wonderful book an original storyline full of suspenseful scenes with a bit of romance. I have really enjoyed this series. One definitely needs to read the first book, Ambush, before reading this title otherwise the plot would be confusing. Who knew that a wildlife refuge could be such a great setting? Clearly Colleen Coble did.

I did read an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own.

Fifteen years ago, I had a business trip scheduled to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel the trip. This story was another opportunity to visit that area vicariously. Although the places are fictional, I am probably getting more of a flavor for the area than if I had made my trip. Not only am I enjoying this trip, but getting to visit with some of the folks from previous stories is fun. The action and suspense are quite intense. Whatever you do, stay alert when you read this one. You never know what awaits around the corner, out on the steps, or even in a vehicle. Everyone knows to be careful around the animals at The Sanctuary, but apparently there are some two-legged animals that are almost deadlier than the four-legged ones. The two young brothers, Isaac and Levi, who live with their mother at the animal refuge help to bring a little light-heartedness to the story when things get real tense. I will be anxiously awaiting the next story.

After all the attacks on The Sanctuary in Ambush, the first book of the Sanctuary series by Colleen Coble, you might think Paradise, Blake, and their loved ones could catch a break in the sequel. Unfortunately for our friends on the wild animal park, someone is determined to shake their foundation and the public*s opinion of The Sanctuary, working relentlessly to undermine all that holds them up. From a murder in the tiger enclosure to eerie gifts left for Paradise, the path toward truth is as tangled as the Spanish moss and the search is entwined with the search for Paradise*s long lost brother and the person who killed their parents. Colleen Coble knows how to write characters the reader can bond with and action that will keep said reader awake all night turning pages. Prowl is yet another stellar example of that elite level skill.

I received an ARC of this book. It did not influence my review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

A gripping mystery, a Phantom of the Opera stalker, adorable animals, & a heartfelt 2nd chance romance made Prowl unputdownable! Colleen Coble delivers another heart-stopping, exciting, romantic sequel in the Sanctuary series. Paradise & Blake have their hands full when the sanctuary is the sight of a murder. Add in someone stalking Paradise, an unbelievable discovery on the park*s lands, & the unpredictability of wild animals, & you have another exciting, edge of your seat mystery!

The last thing the Sanctuary needs is more bad publicity. As the refuge*s co-owner, Blake Lawson does his best to keep it afloat & care for his widowed mother & two young brothers. With Paradise back in his life, he*s excited for a second chance with her. But, after an employee*s found murdered in the park & a creepy stalker is using Paradise*s favorite musical to taunt her, their romantic future plans are put on hold. A discovery on the park*s lands though could mean a solution to their money troubles or potential disaster. It*ll take all their faith & fortitude to save the park & find the murderer before it*s too late.

I absolutely love Paradise & Blake! Their road back to each other has plenty of bumps & turns. Paradise*s parents were murdered when she was a child & she can*t move on until her memories return of that fateful night. She wants to be independent & chaffs when Blake*s overprotective, but when the threats accelerate, there*s nobody she*d rather turn to. I enjoyed seeing her confront her past. I*m so excited to see what happens in book 3.

Blake*s such a great guy! He*s learning to be patient & take things slow. Paradise*s been through a lot & he*s right there to support her. I love his relationship with his mom & little brothers too.

The mystery is filled with twists & turns! Just when I thought I had it figured out, there*s another piece to the puzzle. I enjoyed all the animals included in the story along with seeing Hez & Savannah from the Tupelo Grove series. When all the clues come together, they lead to a thrilling ending.

Highly recommend! Looking forward to the next book in the series! I received an advanced copy from the publisher with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions are completely my own & provided voluntarily.
