ShariseIndianapolis, INAge: 18-24Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Great for finding new authors!April 20, 2011ShariseIndianapolis, INAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3I found this book to have plenty of interesting tidbits in it. I loved the format. The biggest way to remember what you're studying is to be able to write while reading. This journal is designed to provide you with a verse to start out your day. This is then followed by an excerpt from various books, these correlates with the verse. The next part is probably my favorite part of the book, they did a great job at posing a question at the end of each excerpt to help guide the journaling experience which I loved! This would be an excellent gift for someone who is just starting out in their walk with the Lord. It gives them valuable material that can be encouraging and applied daily. It also would give them great insight into which authors they would enjoy reading. For someone like me who enjoys journaling a bit more and really enjoys getting into the word, I'd say it's better used as a jump start. It stimulates your mind and gets you thinking about where you'd like to venture in your readings. I'm a huge fan of using books as tools for various discussions I lead. I will definitely be using some of the excerpts in this book to do just that! Although I read this book as part of the Book Sneeze program I am not required to write a positive review.

Ben UmnusWisconsinAge: 18-24Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Devotion for everyday.April 5, 2011Ben UmnusWisconsinAge: 18-24Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This isn't technically a book, but since I've noticed there are many releases of various journals, Diaries, and notebooks I wanted to see if this journal would be useful. As I mentioned, I've seen several journals like from Harry Potter, Twilight,Veggie Tales, lol I'm surprised I haven't seen a Sponge Bob journal yet. Of course this isn't just some paper with a binding and a cartoon logo on the cover. This arrangement is a devotional journal where one can both ponder scripture and write down things at the same time. The God's Promises Devotional Journal was arranged by Jack Countryman.
This journal has a page for every day of the year from January 1st until December 31st; although February 29th is not included... Everyday there is a passage of scripture at the top of the page. In the middle, there is also a quotation from a Christian pastor/author like Max Lucado, Sarah Young, Billy Graham, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. David Jeremiah, Sheila Walsh, etc. At the bottom, there is a devotional question one can ponder after reading the verse and quotation. Obviously I did not ponder this for the entire year, but for the most part I liked what I had read. I feel the scripture, quotation, and devotional question fit together fine. However, as someone who likes to write, I was disappointed by the amount of space for some of the questions. For an example there is the June 29th question: 'Do you believe in Satan, or is he a fictional character to you? If you believe in him, do you fear him, or do you trust in the power of Christ in your life?'. It is a great question along with a great passage of scripture and a great commentary by John Hagee, however the question is longer than the space they provide for you to answer! Otherwise this is a good devotional journal for anyone from teen to adult in my opinion.

The purpose of this book is to bring each believer to a closer, intimate relationship with God then they ever had before. The closer a person is to God the more others can say "Now that is someone who loves God" Have you ever noticed that God has a tendency to Whisper in your Ear versus Shouting. I believe that God Whispers in a person's ear intentionally. This book not only refreshes the inner part of each person reading the book but brings them to a Closer, Intimate level.
The writers of this book have a gift they don't just write but they paint the picture for the reader.
God's Promises along with God's Word have withstood the test of time.
God's Promises Devotional Journal consists of over 15 of the top Christian Authors from Max Lucado to John MacArthur, Chuck Swindol, and the list just continues.
A great gift for Mother's Day, Birthday's, Graduation gift or maybe you yourself just want to grow closer to God. Maybe its you that just needs to hear God's Voice more than you ever did before.
If that is the case than this is the book for you.
