However, it didn't meet the ratings I viewed before I bought this DVD. It was a very expensive movie , but I thought with 2 discs it was bound to have more in to it than the other "Good
DVD I have already staring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. I wish I had not spent the money on buying this new movie the other one I had first beats this one hands down. This new Pride & Prejudice ends in the middle of the movie where they are just beginning to fall for each other, and then boom its over. What a big let DOWN!

The scenery is beautiful, the characters delightful, and the costumes absolutely lovely (tho some were immodest). The cast was perfectly chosen, all of them. This version stays very closely to the book (as I'm always glad to find is true with most BBC films!) and is the best version I've seen. Invite some friends over, cozy up with some cocoa or tea, and enjoy this classic!

While it is extremely long, you get so caught up in the lives of the characters that you can't wait to see what happens next. True, Mrs Bennett, Cousin Collins, and Lady Catherine are a bit difficult to take- however the volleying between Darcy and Elizabeth is wonderful. Mr Bennett's dry humor is also some comic relief if you catch it! I have watched numerous editions of P & P. This is by far my favorite! I have watched it at least 7 or 8 times. This is definitely a classic!
