Product Description

Having finally discovered the truth of her birthright, Julia Elliston is determined to outwit Chance Macy at his own game. Holding a secret he'd kill to keep, however, is proving more difficult than she imagined.

Just when Julia thinks she's managed to untangle herself from Macy's clutches, he changes tactics with a risky ploy. As the scandal of the century breaks loose, drawing rooms all over London whisper what so far newspapers have not dared to print: Macy's lost bride is none other than Lord Pierson's daughter-and one of the most controversial cases of marital law ever seen comes before Victorian courts.

Though Julia knows Macy's version of events is another masterful manipulation, public opinion is swaying in his favor. Caught in a web of deceit and lies, armed only with a fledgling faith, Julia must face her fiercest trial yet.

Publisher's Description

Having finally discovered the truth of her birthright, Julia Elliston is determined to outwit Chance Macy at his own game. Holding a secret he’d kill to keep, however, is proving more difficult than she imagined.

Just when Julia thinks she’s managed to untangle herself from Macy’s clutches, he changes tactics with a risky ploy. As the scandal of the century breaks loose, drawing rooms all over London whisper what so far newspapers have not dared to print: Macy’s lost bride is none other than Lord Pierson’s daughter—and one of the most controversial cases of marital law ever seen comes before Victorian courts.

Though Julia knows Macy’s version of events is another masterful manipulation, public opinion is swaying in his favor. Caught in a web of deceit and lies, armed only with a fledgling faith, Julia must face her fiercest trial yet.

Editorial Reviews

In the final book of a trilogy, Dotta completes the story of Julia Elliston, an emotionally scarred woman who discovers she is an heiress. Though the status of her marriage to Chance Macy is unclear (given questions about Macy’s circumstances), Julia weds Edward, her childhood sweetheart and the local vicar. She believes the hardships plaguing her life are finally over, but her happiness is short-lived. Edward’s parents reject Julia, and his congregation decries him for marrying a scandalous woman. The couple heads to London in search of a fresh start, but unbeknownst to Edward, Julia has blackmailed Macy, who vows to get revenge. Julia’s life disintegrates as it becomes clear that Macy will stop at nothing to conceal the secret Julia holds. The story is told in retrospect from Julia’s point of view and will appeal to readers who like dark romanticism. The vast array of characters and their relationships, however, may prove challenging for those not familiar with the two previous books.

Like a passenger in a runaway carriage, I had spent the past year of my life in constant upheaval I nodded, knowing that if I spoke, Id cry. For the first time in my life, I was about to go home.

Its difficult to review this book for two reasonsIts the third book in the series, (so I dont want to give too much away) and Im conflicted in my thoughts about this trilogy.

If you want to be completely engrossed in a book series, become deeply involved with its characters, have your heart and soul gutted, and mourn when the series endsthe Price of Privilege trilogy is for you. That is, if you purchase all three books before you begin reading to avoid unresolved issues and the feeling of the story being incomplete between them.

I enjoy reading series books because I become invested in the characters lives and dont want them to leave, but I prefer the stories to feel complete after each installment. Price of Privilege is the third book in the Christian Victorian series and should only be read after reading the first two books (Born of Persuasion and Mark of Distinction.) The trilogy must be read in orderthey are not standalone books. At the end of book one and two there are unresolved issues that need the following book to feel whole.

I really like the authors writing style. It brings to mind old school writing, such as Bront or Austen. Her writers voice is engaging and easy to read, even though its a little darker than stories I normally read.

This was a good conclusion to the series. I definitely recommend reading the other two books before this one, though.

Jessica Dotta in her new book, Price of Privilege Book Three in the Price of Privilege series published by Tyndale House Publishers brings us into the life of Julia Elliston.

From the Back Cover: Where will she turn when the truth becomes more dangerous than the lie?

Having finally discovered the truth of her birthright, Julia Elliston is determined to outwit Chance Macy at his own game. Holding knowledge hed kill to keep secret, however, is proving more difficult than she imagined.

Just when Julia thinks shes managed to untangle herself from Macys clutches, the scandal of the century breaks loose. Drawing rooms all over London whisper what so far newspapers have not dared to print: Macys lost bride is none other than Lord Piersons daughter, Julia―and one of the most controversial cases of marital law ever seen comes before Victorian courts.

Though Julia knows Macys version of events is another masterful manipulation, public opinion is swaying in his favor. Caught in a web of deceit and lies, armed only with a fledgling faith, Julia must face her fiercest trial yet.

Jessica Dotta in Price of Privilege has given us history and details from society and expectations for Victorian London that are outstanding. There is a lot going on in this book, scheming manipulations, incredible deceit and really nasty people and Mr. Macy tops them all. There are also good people as well and to see who is going to come out on top is quite an attention keeper. Price of Privilege is also a romance that can only be found in this kind of setting, marry for love, marry for money and/or prestige. There is a war going on between Julia and Mr. Macy that actually goes to trial. The conflict will be resolved but how is the question. Jessica Dotta knows how to weave a captivating story with wonderful characters that breathe. I am sorry that this is the end of this series however I am looking forward to the next that the talented Ms. Dotta will write.

This is the third and final book in the Price of Privilige trilogy. To best enjoy this book remember to read these in order otherwise you might be somewhat confused. I enjoyed the story but disliked the way most of the characters acted. I am glad that I live in this day and age because it was very hard to be an independent woman then. Most were thought insane. I look forward to more books by Jessica. I received this book from Tyndaleblog network fir. Fair and honest opinion.
