My son who is very strong in math did well with the BJU math books in elementary school. At times we found that there were too many problems per assignment, so he became frustrated with it, but he enjoyed the colorful pages and story lines. As a strong math student, it was a pretty good fit.

My daughter on the other hand, barely got one concept in hand before the book moved to another one. (notice the table of contents) As one who struggles with math, this was not good for her. We quickly moved to Math U See which focuses on mastery before moving to a new concept. It was a God send for her.

It would be good to consider your child's math abilities before making a choice on programs. Pretty pages and fun stories can make math interesting, but don't necessarily lead to improved math performance. On the other hand, a strong student may very well enjoy the added features.

One last note, I purchased the teacher's editions for the program, but found in the early elementary years I never used them. The lessons are pretty straight forward.
