John MacArthur and other distinguished teachers of preachers respond to the apostle's mandate in this comprehensive treatment of expository preaching. Dr. MacArthur's well-known passion for the Scriptures is combined with the vision and expertise of other faculty members at The Master's Seminary to produce a definitive statement on how to unfold the meaning of God's Word effectively to today's congregation.
Other contributors include: James F. Stitzinger, James E. Rosscup, Robert L. Thomas, George J. Zemek, Donald G. McDougall, Richard L. Mayhue, Irvin A. Busenitz, and David C. Deuel.
John MacArthur has served as the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, since 1969. His ministry of expository preaching is unparalleled in its breadth and influence. In more than four decades of ministry from the same pulpit, he has preached verse by verse through the entire New Testament (and several key sections of the Old Testament). He is president of the Masters University and Seminary and can be heard daily on the Grace to You radio broadcast (carried on hundreds of radio stations worldwide). He has authored a number of bestselling books, including Twelve Ordinary Men, and One Perfect Life.

Of all I've read, MacArthur's is the very best for moving from exegesis to exposition. Other books are better on oratory method (e.g., hold your hands this way when you speak, make eye contact, etc.) but no book I've read does a better job of teaching you how to take a bare passage of Scripture, examine and interpret it properly, and then turn it into a sermon. I highly recommend this volume to all preachers - probably more so than those that teach oratory method. You can ususally figure that sort of stuff out on your own.
Greggrey Cudworth2 Stars Out Of 5May 14, 2009Greggrey CudworthThe book gave some helps on how to improve your preaching; but for the most part it tended to make the reader feel inadequate and not up to the challenge. I was disappointed, most of JM's books are excellent. after reading the book I came away feeling that no one would be qualified to be a preacher by his standards.
