What's Your Strategy?
As kids grow, their prayer lives need to grow toobut how? Stephen Kendrick and Alex Kendrick offer a strategy that kids can use to figure out how prayer works and just how powerful it is. Lots of great explanation is combined with fun activities, illustrations, and journaling prompts to get kids thinking and praying.
This companion book to the movie War Room contains 32 perforated journal pages kids can use to write specific prayers and then post them on the walls in their prayer roomjust like the characters in the movie. Topics include:
Why should I pray?
Where do I pray?
Is there a wrong way to pray?
What should I pray for?
Does God really hear me?

I've been using with my 10 year old grandson as a devotional & it's the right length to keep him focused.
RachelGender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Book for KidsSeptember 26, 2015RachelGender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was so excited to be able to get this book for my two girls. I so much enjoyed the other books that go along with the War Room movie. I knew this one would be just as good. Alex and Stephen do an awesome job explain what prayer is, why they should pray, and whether or not God hears them when they pray, along with so many other great things. The book is beautifully illustrated with lots of cute pictures and fun colors. I am so glad that they made this book for kids because I feel they really need to be equipped even at a young age to be strong in the Lord. With lots of pages in the back of the book for their specific prayer requests and concerns, it gives them a formula to follow to help them execute their prayers.
I am always amazed at how Stephen and Alex can take any subject and make it easy to understand. They have a way of explaining things that make you want to be involved and not feel overwhelmed. I will continue to look forward to their next projects and will always support them. I am so excited to see what the Lord is gonna do through this book and all of the books involved with their ministry.
I was blessed with a copy of this book by B&H Publishing in exchange for my review. A positive review was not required.
Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Good Devotional for TweensSeptember 6, 2015Seasons of GraceAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I really like this book. It's hard back cover with some very beautifully illustrated pictures. After a brief introduction encouraging kids to pray, there are ten chapters on prayer covering things such as -what, where, when, and why, about prayer. Does God hear me? Do my prayers matter? All written on a level an 8-12 year old can understand. Each devotional includes a Bible verse, along with the devotion about prayer. At then end of each day and section with thoughts and prayer prompts as well as encouragement to pray.
The back of the book has essential information on how to put your prayer to work. It includes a prayer journal where kids can keep track of their prayers and answers to prayer. It also includes a page on salvation and another on the Lord's prayer. There are at least 20 pages to journal on, with prayer prompts such as making a list of family members, friends, and others who need prayer to faith like a mustard seed, spiritual growth and things they are thankful for. This book ties in with the War Room movie coming out this month. (August) And includes an explanation of the War Room logo in the back.
I would recommend this book! My ten year old son has begun using it some during his daily devotions. Since he is used to reading a little more than this book has per devotion - most of them are short, he uses it to accompany his other devotional book. I am excited about what he will be learning about prayer through the use of this book.
I was blessed with this book in exchange for an honest review.
Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A great resource for parenting to teach their child about prayer!September 2, 2015Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Looking for a great way to teach your kids about prayer, its importance, and why it is critical for believers of Jesus to pray? Then look no further than Prayer Works: Prayer Training and Strategy for Kids from Stephen Kendrick and Alex Kendrick along with Amy Parker, just on the heels of their successful movie War Room which is all about the amazing power of prayer.
Coupled with wonderful colorful illustrations this hard cover book discusses such topics as What is Prayer? Why Should We Pray? What Do We Pray For? Does God Really Hear Me? Where Do I Pray? Why Do My Prayers Matter? What Is the Best Way to Pray? Is There a Wrong Way to Pray? When Should I Pray? and Will God Answer My Prayers? Each of these topics are taken into further details to outline simply conversations your child is likely to ask to give them some ideas to consider implementing in their own prayer life.
The best part is at the back of this book is a section for kids to log in their own prayers, along with specific pages like praying for the sick, praying for my family, for others, and even a place to track those wonderful faith building answered prayers. This is simply a way to introduce your child to prayer and to enable them to have an understanding of why its important and referring to the Bible some of those mighty prayer warriors like Esther, David and Daniel.
I received Prayer Works by Alex and Stephen Kendrick and Amy Parker compliments of Icon Media Group and B and H Kids Publishers for my honest review of this book. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review, aside from a free copy of this book, and the opinions found here are my own personal ones. There is even a great parent resource to enable parents to help their child establish their own personal place to pray just like in the War Room along with some great tips to make charting their prayers for specific things and people a success when the answers come and just how God can choose to answer them, often in ways we had not considered. For me this is a must have for parents of young children to give them a resource they can refer to for answers on prayer and thus a 5 out of 5 stars in this reviewers opinion.
bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: Over 65Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Good for kids ages 6 to 9 or soAugust 31, 2015bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 0This is a good book for young children on what prayer is and how to go about it. It not only teaches about prayer but has kids actually praying too.
It starts with explaining what prayer is, then why we should pray, what we should pray for, how to pray, etc. Each reading is about the equivalent of one page of text, taking the child maybe five minutes to read. Some are even shorter. There is a Bible verse at the beginning of the reading and an encouragement to specifically pray at the end. There are also cute illustrations on each page. There are twenty two pages at the back of the book with space for children to write down their prayers. There is also a prayer for salvation near the back as well as a Parent Connection with suggestions for a directed conversation about prayer.
I think this book would work well with younger school age children, around ages 6 to 9. The style of the illustrations might be too childish looking for older children. It would make a good daily devotional on prayer.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Icon Media for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
