Product Description

In theory, prayer is the priceless point of contact between us and God. In practice, it's often frustrating, confusing, and mysterious. Yancey explores this enigmatic intersection where we meet God, asking---and answering---key questions: Is he listening? What's the point? Can prayer be more satisfying? Does it change his mind? My mind? Or both? 352 pages, softcover from Zondervan.

Publisher's Description

In his most powerful book since What’s So Amazing About Grace? and The Jesus I Never Knew, Philip Yancey explores the intimate place where God and humans meet in Prayer. Polls reveal that 90 percent of people pray. Yet prayer, which should be the most nourishing and uplifting time of the believer’s day, can also be frustrating, confusing, and fraught with mystery. Writing as a fellow pilgrim, Yancey probes such questions as: •Is God listening? •Why should God care about me? •If God knows everything, what’s the point of prayer? •Why do answers to prayer seem so inconsistent? •Why does God sometimes seem close and sometimes seem far away? •How can I make prayer more satisfying? Yancey tackles the tough questions and in the process comes up with a fresh new approach to this timeless topic. "I have learned to pray as a privilege, not a duty," he says, and he invites you to join him on this all-important journey.

The best book on prayer out there! Covers all the common questions and attitudes about prayer. The author keeps reminding us that this is a relationship and as such it requires frequent communication. He encourages us to really pray with honesty and sincerity. It was like a breath of fresh air - not a lot of rules or restrictions. Will definitely take your prayer time to a deeper level.

this is a book that is quite easy to understand though I find it isn't a book to just sit down and read through it has quite a bit to think about and digest. It is answering lots of my questions. Our Son ordered it at the same time as we did without even knowing.

I love the book. It is helping me tremendously.

I do not like the way the reader is working. No page numbers, It will not always remember where I stopped reading and it takes half my time I have to read to find my page. Other electronic readers are not like this. Please have the soft ware updated so your customers will actually come back and buy from you. Until that happens. I will not purchase anything else from you.

Phillip Yancy "Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?" is thought-provocking making you think about your prayer life. It answered the question, "Is the Lord listening to me?" and why the Lord will give you another, better answer, sometimes. The Lord knows everything about you (your sins, your job, your finances, your girlfriend, or spouse, your illnesses, your friendships and relationships, etc.) and what you are going to pray to Him, even before you pray. Phillip Yancy took a hard look at prayer through his countless study of it through prayer books and scientific studies on prayer.
