Tell us a little about yourself. I'm just an ordinary woman who serves an extraordinary God. Craig and I live in a small town in the California Sierras, where we're raising the last two of our four great kids. I teach high school English there, and he raises beef cattle and hay. Our favorite times are when all of our kids are home.
What was your motivation behind this project? The reasons behind PRAYER CHANGES TEENS are what drove me to my knees, what drove me to prayerwalking, and what drove me to write PRAYERWALK and DAILY PRAYERWALK. Those reasons would be my own teenagers, of course, my students, and the parents who'd tell me, "I just don't know what to do anymore!" This book is for them.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope PRAYER CHANGES TEENS extends help, hope and a little humor to parents. The more than twenty chapters address issues you can have with your teen--with a humorous opening that leads into a serious prayer strategy and prayer. Chapter sidebars also provide quotes from real teens on the issue, additional Bible study guides, the best tips from experts I could find, and dialogue starters. It's a solid reference book--one I wish I had many years ago--but it also extends warm encouragement and hope.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? There are dozens of authors who've written on prayer who have impacted my prayer and writing life. My writer friend Jennifer Kennedy Dean recently referred me to a wonderful book by O. Hallesby called PRAYER. I recommend it highly, as well as Jennifer's new book, LIVE A PRAYING LIFE. It's like an EXPERIENCING GOD of prayer, a terrific interactive study.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I pray for my readers, and if you'd like to contact me, you can reach me through my web site: www.dailyprayerwalking.com. You're not alone in your walk through this teenager valley!
