    Pray A to Z is a wonderful prayer guide! Organized alphabetically by topic, this little book is sure to make a big impact on its readers. Rhodes brings attention to a myriad of issues and struggles that many in our community are facing and calls us to be more mindful and intentional in our petitions and praise. I really appreciated the thoroughness and thoughtfulness of the suggested prayers, as well the pertinent scriptures that begin each section. Simple, yet effective, Pray A to Z is a great tool to use in your individual prayer life, as well as in a group setting.

    I received a complimentary copy of this book. No review was required, and all thoughts expressed are my own.

    I am oftentimes overwhelmed by the needs around me and in the world at large. While there are times when I can offer tangible help, many times, the best way I can help is through prayer. This is why I love Amelia Rhodes' new book, Pray A to Z. From "adoption" to "zeal," Rhodes' book gives me tangible ways to pray for the needs of myself and my community.

    Furthermore, this is an incredible tool for you to use with your spouse! When Craig and I ask couples what keeps them from praying regularly together, the response is often related to awkwardness or not knowing what to say. This book has two things to help you with thatspecific ideas on how to pray on this topic and an actual scripted prayer, as well. You may start praying the scripted prayer together and, as you get more and more comfortable with praying, begin to branch out in praying based on the ideas in the book. You'll begin to see how the Holy Spirit can guide youin your words and your actions.

    Creative Guide to Prayer

    Pray A to Z is an unusual book. It's not a story that you read from cover to cover. In fact, if you're not really a fan of reading at all, you'll like this book, because you can take it one short page at a time. One per day if you'd like. This book is a guide. Who among us hasn't promised to pray for someone and then...we forget...or we don't know what to say...or our prayers turn into a long list of "God bless {fill in 105 blanks}." Maybe we've even backed off from praying like we should because we don't feel effective in our prayers.

    That's where this book can help. Amelia has taken the alphabet, something most of us can safely say we know by heart, and she's made lists of five categories we can pray for associated with each letter. And the last two of each of the five categories are positive, uplifting things that end our prayers on a high note of praise. {Because let's face it: praying for the many hurts and wounds can really pull us down, can't it?}

    For example, let's just take the letter S, and as you pray through that letter, you'll pray over singles, sexuality, suicide, strength, and shepherd. For the singles, you'll pray for those in your life who are single and need support and purpose, purity and encouragement. Amelia gives you a verse to guide your prayers, ideas of things to pray {like the words I just mentioned} and even a written prayer to further trigger your thoughts. When praying over sexuality, you'll pray for your own purity, for your family's protection, and for the community around you. You'll pray for those being sexually abused or those who are still traumatized from when it happened to them years ago. {There's more, but that gives you an idea.}

    When you get to the "prayers of praise" part {still staying with the letter S}, you'll praise God for the strength He gives each day and you'll call to mind situations in the past when He offered you strength in exchange for your weakness.

    As I read through the book, I was pleasantly surprised to see how Amelia's guide set my mind free to think of many people in my circle of friends {immediate and far-reaching} who fall into the categories from A to Z. And sometimes the suggestions she gave were ones I wouldn't have thought to pray over, so that was really helpful to me.

    If prayer is something you're hoping to focus on in the new year, this would be a really practical guide in helping you stay on track in your prayers. There's plenty of room on the page to make notes, write names, mark answers, etc.

    I also think {age appropriately of course} that this method is a great way to teach your kids how to guide their prayer lives. Obviously you'd want to be careful on some topics, but I know my mom used the alphabet method to teach me memory verses, and it was so helpful. I think teaching prayer the same way could be incredibly powerful.

    I loved this book, I think it's a helpful guide, a good gift idea, easy to read, practical, and perfect for new Christians and seasoned Believers alike!

    Prayer is hard. We don't know what we are to be praying or we get distracted or we even forget to pray altogether. Rhodes has provided a practical guide to help us pray for our communities and their specific needs.

    She shares her own story of being awakened by an Amber Alert alarm on her phone. If only an audible alarm could jolt us out of our spiritual slumber every day and call us to prayerful action for our community, she writes. A thought came to her. Instead of having one long prayer list, what if she prayed by topic. The idea of praying A to Z was born.

    Rhodes found herself praying for more people with more concerns than ever before. She was praying deeply, intensely and with purpose.

    She has compiled topics for prayer for each letter of the alphabet. Within each letter are three subjects for prayers of petition and then two topics for prayers of praise. A Scripture verse and a few prompting ideas are given and then a written prayer. The written prayer is not designed to be the end but only a springboard to additional praying.

    I really appreciate this format. I want to pray for my community but never know what to pray for or how to pray. This book is a wealth of ideas and reminders. For example, under the letter C are suggestions to pray for those battling cancer, involved in court cases, and those who are caregivers. I know people in each of those categories and can now purposefully pray for them. I am also reminded to praise God for being Creator and Comforter. Every letter has great topics associated with them. For L I would pray for lawmakers, law enforcement, and those experiencing lack of medical care. I would also praise God for being light and love. On another day I'll be praying for teachers, those facing temptations, and those suffering from trafficking. I will also praise God for His trustworthiness and for truth.

    This book can be used individually or in a group. I've been using it by praying one letter each day. That takes me well through the month, perhaps leaving off Sundays for other types of prayer. I have found myself praying for people and community situations I have long neglected. I don't get bored praying the same list over and over. Each day brings to mind new situations and people in need of prayer.

    I highly recommend this book. It is not a book on how to pray, although she does give some suggestions if books for that. It is a great book that will inspire you to pray for your community in a systematic way.

    I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Litfuse. My comments are an independent and honest review.

    First, I would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to Amelia Rhodes and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Pray A-to-Z" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.

    'Pray A-to-Z' by Amelia Rhodes is a nifty book for priming the pump when you pray for yourself and others. This is a topical guide that helps you with Scripture references and ideas about what to pray for a variety of topics. There are also sample prayers to get you started. Containing 130 topics (5 for each letter of the alphabet), this book covers lots of subjects like adoption, job seeking, unity, cancer, temptation and many more.

    Pray A-to-Z is an easy to use guide of basic prompts. Just choose a topic and pray. I wouldve liked if there was more room on each page to write additional Scriptures or prayer prompts. But you can jot notes in the margins or add sticky notes. This is a book I will refer back to for years to come.
