This book covers a period from 1966 to 2008. It is an account of the lives of Stephen and Holly Deaubé and their family, beginning at birth and ending in glory. Each was born with the same rare but fatal liver disease. Honest and sometimes graphic, it deals with the everyday joys, heartaches, and struggles that accompany children with liver disease. The landscape is constantly changing, covering a large spectrum of emotions. This story describes in detail the trials and struggles as they occurred, with an honest assessment of their thoughts as they responded to pain, suffering, and death. The book chronicles a journey of faith, beginning from infancy to its final conclusion in Gods sovereign will.

Tell us a little about yourself. I retired as a bricklayer in 2007 from California and moved to Monroe, Oregon. This is my first book, a memoir. I will be 66 years old in December, rather old to write my first book. I have not studied writing or have any formal writing experience. I live on ten acres in the mountains and enjoy the peaceful climate of Oregon. I have four children and four grandchildren. My wife Bonnie have been married forty-four years and are active members of the First Baptist church. Junction City.
What was your motivation behind this project? I was motivated when one of my classmates wrote to me after reading some blogs of mine and said "If you did not become a writer, you missed your calling. Two of my children was born with a fatal liver disease. I wanted to tell their story, they are mt inspiration!
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope readers will gain strength and hope from a story that chronicles the pain, and conflict of terminally-ill children. It is a story of faith, hurt, healing and belief. The main themes are God is good, He is in control, and God doesn't make mistakes.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? This book is a deeply emotional and spiritual story. It is intense and sometimes painfully transparent. I have found it has been very therapeutic and a useful tool in sharing with others what I have learned in the care of critically-ill children. I have grown closer to God through these experiences.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Life is unpredictable, and no one knows from one moment to the next what is going to happen: and despite life's unpredictability and, at times indescribable pain, God has been consistently good.
